hey guys,im planning on getting a new bike by next month.
My Budget is 70K and mainly for city ride, and i am pretty decided on the FZS.
but was wondering how much does the RTR160 cost and is it a better option than the FZS?

thank you

I would say rtr 160 is better when it comes to performance. Both of them have a good handling though. I suggest you to take a look at both the bikes, TD and then decide. I think you can get rtr 160 FI at arnd 70k.

RTR Fi costs 74884 here at Chennai. Its more of what u prefer mate. If its out and out performance - eyes closed RTR fi/180. The FZ is overpriced IMHO. U will have great low-end and mid range, but the top end is nothing to talk about. Its more of an extension of the mid-range. The FZ is not as good a handler as the RTR. It more than makes up for it with the grip that the wide tires offer! Mileage on the RTR is much better. But the RTR is not without its issues - vibrations are deadly. The engine is rough. Seating is quite aggressive. And the TVS tires could have been much better! The FZ on the other hand has amazing refinement and looks to kill.

thank you guys

@sato and Aparajith

you guys talking abt RTR 160 or 180? is 180 only 70k?

im ruling out pulsar because of its very outdated design...and many of my cousins have them and i have rode them a lot too !

anyway ill try out both the RTR and FZ...but FZ's looks are telling me "YES! Yamaha!" :)

btw guys any website that has good reviews?

thank you

180 for performance .... its priced around 72k whereas the 160 Fi is around 78k in hyderabad.
I think yamaha will be launching a FZ full fairing version.. if u r in for looks and can wait, take a look at what yamaha has to offer.

^FZ full fairing :P ? Doesn't it already have too much fairing for its puny engine

oh damn...jst check TVSs site and never knew there were 4 variants of RTR..now im really confused...anyway ill check the prices test ride it tomorrow and report back.

btw guys what is the mileage of these bikes?

^^
FZS Mileage --> 35-40 KMPL 156cc stressed engine.
RTR 180 --> 50 KMPL

For me
FZS is like a fashion accessory. U'll have to replace it if something better looking gets launched in market or u'll look stupid riding (Wearing a classic Amitabh Bachchan hairdo). coz FZS is mainly for 'show of' purpose. An enthu will know that 140 section tire is too much for a small 150cc 2 valve, carb engine.

RTR you can have it for years and look cool for maintaining a performance bike that u love. Vibes have reduced too. u can get rear disc brake with carb engine. Looks good too, better than Pulsar, Uni, CBZ X (yuck!!).

No offence to any FZ owner. Just my thoughts.

I have both an RTR Fi 160 and an R15. Have toured extensively with my FZ friends. The max that the damn FZ does is 110. I have done till 125 on my RTR.

Well, yeah there are 4 variants - RTR Refresh - 160 in carb with or without Rear disc
RTR Fi - fully loaded with an Fi system
RTR 180 - carb version with a 180 cc engine

Between te RTR Fi and RTR 180 there is very little difference. The presence of the Fi system with a much freer exhaust and a more rev-happy nature compensate for the extra 30 cc.

IIRC RTR 180 is also around the 75 - 80 mark and the RTR Fi cost me 74,884 IIRC. Lastly do not decide anything without a test ride!

tnx again guys and yes im going on a TEST drive spree tom..will try RTR160,160fi and 180 and FZS.

btw i read many reviews comparisons and is it fair to say that the diff./improvement in the RTR is only useful for enthusiasts?

i mainly need a bike for commuting,i have been riding bikes for years but this is going to be MY first bike..

tested FZ and 180RTR,frankly coudnt tell a diff,so i guess ill settle on FZ itself..

these are the prices here.

FZS(71,550 after 3k disc offer)

FT-72800

180-71700

Still settling for the massively overpriced FZ-S just for the looks?

IMHO, if you've got such a big budget, then a test ride of P200 (Rs.70069) or P180:2009 (Rs. 63500) is a must before finalizing your purchase.
