Boy, what a difference in price/performance since last June. Remember, X2 3800 was like Rs 18000 or something. And, DRAM prices head for the toilet
THE PRICE OF DRAM, which always wibbles and wobbles like there's no tomorrow, is on a bit of a downward wobble at the moment.
Those clever folk at Gartner say the price of 512-Mbit DDR2-based chips has tumbled by 44 per cent this year, already.
And average DRAM spot prices were down to $3.67, last week, a 39 per cent since the beginning of 2007, according to the market watchers.

Amd slashing the price to gain market share hmm.... Thats good the competition is going tougher and we user will be profited be the slashing price ;)

Will these price cuts be reflected in prices available to us indians ?, i doubt it-because Indian prices ( at which we get the stuff- not the hypothetical pricelist rates ) are just too high !!

Not really! Consider an e6600, retailing for around 320~330 in the US. We have a very decent price of 15.5K or thereabouts that has been stable.

Now consider the price drop to 224 US$. I expect an initial drop of at least 3K, which is why our vendors may make the e6600 and e6700 scarce pretty soon :P
 
AMD X2 3600+ Brisbane is already arnd 3.5k all incl in the market...so I guess the new prices are already in place much before newegg :P
