^^Get off the weed and stop suggesting the 'Seasonic PSU' for every user out there. And when the OP has specifically mentioned 'no gaming whatsoever' what would you think a 9600GT actually helps for?

He has a very basic rig which can easily run off an inexpensive entry-level PSU such as the Zebronics Pro Power 350W (<1.5k).

@OP: Any G31/G33 board can play HD/Blu-ray rips without an issue since the onboard IGP - the GMA 3100 can render them without breaking a sweat. What might be an issue is playing content off the Blu-ray/HD-DVDs since bit-rate's got be high and the CPU itself might not take all the load decoding the content.

The Intel DG33FB is a decent board in case you dont find the Gigabyte board. Oh and get the G31-ES2L since this one has a 4-phase PWM as against the 3-phase PWM in the S2L. Results in better stability and you may have to pay a difference of 50 bucks for that!

Well Said gannu :D now thats the reply i was loking for any comment on the proccy? my friend has a bit of an issue cuz it is not a c2d is there any entry level c2d proccy ?

^That processor is as good as the older C2D E6300/6400 series except that Intel fancies naming their lower-end dual core processors differently! That processor apart from its older brethren the E5200 has VT if you would ever need it. So it's as good as the older-gen C2D processors.

The cheapest C2D would prove to be an overkill for this system and the requreiemtns you'd posted.

Dont worry about the proccy your selection is perfect and explain your friend that e5300 and e5200 both are based on the c2d architecture, its just that intel gave the name dual core instead of dual core.

Nobody suggesting AMD?

Athlon II X2 245 ?? Considering the user isnt gonna overclock.

This should also make available a few mobos which have reasonable onboard graphics?? Perhpas someone can through some light on this prospect.

Intel - E5300 :3.4k and Gigabyte G31M-S2L :2.3k

or

AMD - Athlon II X2 245 :3.6k and Asus M2N68 :2.4k

Transcend 2x2GB 800MHz RAM :2.3k

Zebronics or any cabby+psu :1k-1.2k

Western Digital 640GB AAKS :3.2k

Samsung 2033SW 20" :7.6k

Samsung DVD-RW :1k

Logitech X210 2.1 speakers :1.4k or Altec Lansing BXR1121 :1.1k
