Is this why TE exists ? To screw people up ?

You guys recommended me the ASUS A8N-E, even though you knew I was buying the Gainward 6800 AGP card !

WTF guys, the A8N-E is a PCIe mobo ! Not AGP !

Thank god my dealer took back the mobo and ordered a A8V Delux, else I would have lost a cool 8.2k

How did you even do that ? All A8N-E users knew it was PCIe, then why didn't you specify ?

Mods, you got to lower the rep of all these guys !

Even Masky approved of my config.

I am really disappointed

are you talking about this thread ? link

if so i havent seen any mention anywhere whether you are getting an agp or a pcie card , all you said was that you were getting a gainward 6600gt. so why come here and start trolling.

and dont tell me your silly enough to blindly listen to whats being posted here at the forums ? at the very least you should have headed to the asus site and verified the specs of the mobo to see if it suits your specifications

i dont think TE is responsible for the comments of every member here.. its up to you to cross check the comments and decide whether you want to accept them or not.

Hey Anish Dude you were very harsh in ur tone.

You could have explained ur problem in a polite manner also.

Its seems that there was a misunderstanding here.
Here people assumed u were getting a Gainward PCI-E based GPU and so
recommended you a ASUS A8N-E as its the best NForce4 Ultra Chipset.

Well i dont understand why did you choose the AGP over PCI-E.

Yeah I know I was just so bugged ! Sorry for my harshness.

Anyways Quad, you just posted twice.

I picked AGP as I just bought the Gainward 6800 for 13,575, and that is too damn cheap. The cheapest PCIe 6800 was 21k.

Anyways I hav ordered the A8V DELUXE and give me your comments on that.

The A8V is a fine board. VIA/NVidia isn't too much of an issue now, as the memory controller is integrated onto the CPU itself. Damn, 13575 for that Gainward is bloody cheap, only 2K or so more than a 6600GT AGP.

Well... the Asus A8V is good. I have it. And while it is not as good as, say the MSI Neo2 plat, for oc'ing, it is still good. Nice choice......

And the best part abt that is that almost every 3rd party heatsink-fan combo fits in that. MSI neo2 plat is terrible in that respect.......

Hmm, I am getting the board at around 4 PM today. The card will be shipped today and should reach me by the 21-22.

All OC'ing after that. Don't ask for benchmarks now !

I will post another thread along with pics of my new comp.

So the problem is sorted out !

nice to know that, and dont worry, as ppl here said, that is quite good

and about 8k difference between pcie and AGP is quite huge... :|

Anish, for the benefit of all can you post the details from where did you get the Gainward card ? and how much is the warranty offered ?

Hey Anish..i thot u were intelligent enuf to differentiate between AGP and PCI-E :P

anyways...a gr8 deal...u shud hav asked the prices of the 6800 PCI-E too...coz nf4 ultra is much better than the Via chipset....

ANISHCOOL:This is a tech forum.People respond with what they think is best."Best" doesn't necessarily mean the best right now.It may mean the best in terms of future upgrade options.AGP has a very limited future. And with games like perimteter and SC:CT already pushing the envelope,u may just want to buy a G70-based card less than an year down the line. For that u need PCI-E.BTW,6600GT is for 10.2k pci-e,so it is about 3.3k difference.
For any one with an existing AGP system, the Gainward 6800 is best. But since u r getting a new rig,pci-e makes a lot of sense, even if it means getting a lower card at the moment."Upgradability" is very important in building a pc.
And pls stop thinking people are servile to you.

Undertaker is right for future proof, you should have got the PCIE based system. As I pointed out so many times before performance diff between a 6600 GT and a 6800 NU is at 5% at the most..

For your comfort ATI yet has AGP on its roadmap for its next generation of chips.

And btw,6800 has dropped to $210-220 worldwide (arnd. 9500 rupees) where as 6600gt(both agp) is for $170-175(arnd.7500 rupees). So the premium on the 6800 is in fact a little higher.

But shouldn the 6800 b better when AA/AF is enabled, 256-Bit & all??
Also, how wud u say the 9600 stacks up againt 6600(plain) worth spending an extra 2.5k?

Even with AA & AF enabled 6800 NU is just around 5% faster, IMO not worth the extra 3k price. But performance between a 9600 and 6600 is huge. But I would say 9600 can last you a couple of months more till the next series of ATI and Nvidia come, upgrade then.
