Your Gaming Backlog/Progress Report!

Just completed my first run of Baldur's gate 3 with approximately 86 hours of play time. Such a great game, I think I'm gonna be spending 2-3 months every year playing only this game for the next few years. There are so many possibilities with different companions and different types of characters, along with choices which actually affect the story, that every run can feel fresh. I completed with so many hours clocked, and yet I feel like I didn't learn the game fully. There are so many spells and weapons, I barely scratched the surface. I didn't even try my hands at alchemy.

So much to be said for this game. Made me fall in love with turn based combat.

Started and DNF: Kingdom Come Deliverance (2018)

Got bombarded with menus, numbers and whole ass book worth of tutorial texts in the prologue and got overwhelmed. I am more of an arcade-y gamer and this was too much for me in terms of a serious RPG I guess.

Anybody got any recommendations for a lighter title to ease me into this genre?
For reference, I am more into games like third-person shooters, hack'n slash, top-down sims, platformers and retro RPGs.
Would really appreciate a better entry point into modern first-person RPGs.

Kingdom come deliverance (and its amazing sequel) has more of a serious tone to it even when compared with other first person RPGs. If you aren't interested in or get overwhelmed by the learning curve it's understandable that you would not like it. Have you played Skyrim, Fallout 3/4, The outer worlds or CP2077? They might be better games for you.

I certainly like the setting and feel of the game but the plethora of menus and data and so many mechanics proved too much for me. I would like to revisit it later for sure.

I've never played any Fallout, Elder Scrolls or the other titles you mentioned. Which one would you reccomend for a beginner? Dated graphics and old game styles are not a concern as I prefer retro games anyway.

I would start with Fallout 3. Also, if you want to get your bearings on inventory management with a strategy game, good ol' Diablo 1 & II

Start with fallout 3 then 4, they are best savoured playing one after another. Skyrim (and obvilion) you can play any time. These are all Bethesda games so you can install mods if you like, lots of them to choose from.

I'm more of POE and Last Epoch guy.
