PC Peripherals Z-5500 problem

hey guys,

i have a logitech Z5500 paired to a creative X-Fi EM.

now, the output from the front L and R channels is much lower than the rear channels in 5.1 mode

in stereo mode it is just not loud.....and if i do Stereo x2 mode...then it feels like there is no output from the front channels (its very less compared to the rear channels)

is this proper.........or is it a problem with ma system.....
 
99%, you have your Front and rear connection plugged in the wrong order...The Front L & R should deliver the most of the volume...

The rear speakers should be much lower than the front channels...

Just swap the Front and rear connection connection and you'll be good to go ! :)
 
when you checked on the THX console, was the sound from the front speakers as loud expected?

Step1: Isolate the problem source

Pull out all speaker input connections..now connect one input channel (say rear L+R) coming from the PC to the Rear input and front input sequentially...

Does the output sound asloud as expected from all the speakers?

If no, you have a problem with the speakers.

If yes, the problem is with the audio settings/card

Test and post back
 
what do I say then :huh: ..If the speakers are busted, you might as well get them repaired.. (Could be a leaky cap, failing transistor, could be anything)

I wonder if you already knew this (3 mins between my post and yours) , in which case I do not understand the reason behind this post
 
the speakers are perfect......i checked them in 3 mins dude....(not fooling u)

i did not change speaker wiring but interchanged the inputs

i worry its the amp.......

i made this post cause i dont know much about multichannel systems......

i guess these systems give more output on the centre channel........

i was actually asking other Z-5500 owners........

dont get me wrong yaar
 
^^ Same settings,same type of sound output as you!

but dunno if its a problem!.......sound output from the onboard audio on my ASUS-SLI Premium!

any other Z 5500D owners?
 
:) :) This might seem slighlty noobish....but I think the front speakers will always deliver more sound compared to rear speakers....For equal sound from all speakers u can manually adjust the front speakers vol to be around 70% of rear speakers....keep center speaker and rears at 100%...That might work.

i have z5500

first , by 5.1 mode ... which mode is that ?
stereo mode is not loud cause its just the front 2 speakers , stereo x 2 is all 4 speakers

have u tried switching the rear speakers to front & vice versa.... try that , also try one speaker at a time to test their performance

also , just check creative console & your sound and audio devices if all the settings are correct ... in the speaker settings , there is an option called speaker volume , check the L R speaker volume

all the 4 satellite speakers have same output , front & back are equally loud
 
:) What I meant to say was when listening to stereo sources like mp3's etc the sound will be more on the front channel compared to rear channel. If that is the case then try reducing the vol of front speakers and keep rear channels to max
 
when listening to a stereo mp3 in stereo x 2 mode the output on all 4 speakers is the same.

also i havent noticed any such problem in the z680. in stereox2 mode the sound is always the same in front n rear speakers. they have the same output.
all the speakers output is the same. otherwise they would say it in the specs. the specs says whatever rms x 5

never really noticed that. but i doubt that will make a huge diff. both are pretty similar in specs. these guys seem to be getting really low sound from front sats.
 
i tried everything guys, but still the sound from front speakers is always less than the rear speakers.

even in test mode it is the same....

by 5.1 mode i mean '6-ch direct' mode
 
Ah well the mindless watts thingie again... I wonder what distortion figures Logitech rates those watts at :P.... most probably 10% lol. Plus those watts are meaningless if the speakers are as sensitive as a brick :P. All being the same, the human ear won't be able to notice the difference between 69W and 62W of amplifier power.

Jalsa try doing one thing... switch the front and rear inputs and see if the rears sound weaker than the fronts. If it is then the problem is the source. If not, its the amp in the speaker system thats screwed.
 
did that chaos....
input is perfect (have even tried two inputs)

i think its screwed up decoder in the speaker system.......but then it should give proper sound in direct mode, shouln't it?
 
It shud give proper sound in direct mode... but then again if the amp is screwed, then it won't give proper sound in any mode.
