ZTE wants to make it big, and apparently it doesn't want to stop there. After becoming a renowned force as a smartphone manufacturer first in China and then the whole world itself (ZTE's Android smartphones), ZTE now wants to push on with the upcoming Firefox OS. Firefox OS is an interesting OS of choice, and it adds to the growing pool of competing and new OSes which will be out this year in 2013 which include Samsung's Tizen, Jolla's Sailfish MeeGo based OS, Mozilla's Firefox is now also a part of the party.

ZTE, China's 2nd largest phone maker has expressed their plans to release a Firefox OS based smartphone in Europe earlier, and now they want to release one in the U.S. as well. Says ZTE's CEO,
"We closely monitor the ecosystem and how it evolves. If that is ready and if consumer studies support that data, then we may launch one in the U.S. also this year," said Cheng Lixin, chief executive officer of ZTE's U.S. unit.

Mozilla had announced their Firefox OS back in July 2012, and it seems 2013 will be the year the OS finally sees the light of day as commercial projects.
