after some quick research i came to the following config for a semi gaming laptop. I had actually intended to set this budget up for a desktop until the time i realized that I will have a inter city lifestyle soon (work!! :@ )

if yes in that case upload speeds need not be equal to download speeds .
e.g
on MTNL ADSL i get 200-220KB/s download but not more than 20KB/s upload speed.

If you need an IDE try anjuta its got a good IDE

I was thinking of SLI as an option esp with the upcoming 8800GT (heard that 512 MB is around 10Kish+ or 250 - 260$)
In temp conditions like Mumbai (hot humid most of the times) how does SLI work?
I guess there will be a lot of heating up .
Of course I do not think i need SLI (8800GT)...
