I jus bought a DELL Inspiron R Laptop..

N5110

i5 - 2450m

4 Gb Ram

500 Gb HDD

1 Gb Nvidia 525m

DOS

Got it for 38.5K from Lamington road with india Warrenty...

One thing would like to know ..'

This laptop has 1Gb Nvidia GPU 525m and also around 1 Gb Intel HD Graphics....

both the drivers are installed .. and updated...

but when i check my system properties .. it show Intel HD graphics ....

I am not sure which GPU is being used .. and which will be used while playing games...

Please help..

dosen't it come with switchable gpu via some application? like in hp pavilions , u have an option to switch whichever gpu you want to use

Its Optimus Buddy.

In nVidia COntrol panel there is an option that shows which apps are using nVidia GPU..

Tick it on!

It reports in taskbar, which apps r using Nvidia GPU.. Otherwise all use Intel To save GPU

When you run games or any 3D application the nVidia GPU will come into play.

Other than that the Intel onboard GPU takes care of normal running scenarios.

there is no physical switch as such for switching the GPU ....

i guess its the Optimus technology thts playing its role over her .

will do some re-search in this ..

but nothing much mentioned on DELL Inspiron webpage about this...!!!

okay,,,... went throught the link n white paper on Nvidia website :

http://www.nvidia.com/object/LO_opti...itepapers.html

check the page no 17.... Nvidia Control Panel option are shown ...

things are a bit more clear now....

It works as a muxless technology so even if the Nvidia GPU is being used, in most of the places, you'll see Intel HD being displayed as the GPU.
