Monitors Suggest a 23 Inch 1080p LED Monitor

I want a 23 Inch 1080p monitor. My budget is 10,000 to 12,000 rupees. I checked in web and found out LG E2351VR, AOC e2343F2k TN LED and AOC i2353Ph e-IPS monitors as my choice. You can suggest some other better monitors. I don't have idea of AOC product quality but it is appearing very appealing on specs and design. Tell me what is the difference in terms of display quality if I connect monitor with HDMI or VGA cable.

@Dr. House Add 2k more and get Dell U2312HM-14.5k,It's an E-IPS panel with DVI,Display port connectivity. The picture quality and contrast is very good. It's worth spending extra cash.

Spend that much and no HDMI port in dell monitor Hell, no!
My budget is less than 12k. And I would love to connect my laptop. It has AMD Radeon HD 6770M GPU and in which I play FPS, racing and third person action games.

You won't get a quality IPS Panel within that budget,If you're ready to settle for good TN Panel then you can go for Benq G2420HD-10k OR Dell ST2420L-13k

In general, IPS monitors have higher response time than TN ones. Since you game, better stuck with TN. Check for under 5 ms response time.

According to annandtech review response time is 15ms? What does it mean?? I use default 720p screen in my normal laptop. Is the response time worse than it?

Here's a review of that monitor-http://www.techenclave.com/reviews-previews/aoc-i2353ph-affordable-23-ips-136692/,If you're going to game much then i'd say get a TN panel.

He mentioned 5ms G2G response time. Is it worse than a normal laptop with 1366x768 resolution?

AOC e2343F2k TN Panel monitor has 2ms GTG response time. What is GTG?

It means the monitor cannot show fast moving objects without trails / ghostlike artifacts. If your games involve fast moving objects (most do) stick with TN or very expensive IPS monitors.

Not sure about response time of your laptop screen, google for it or ask here.

So how would be the AOC e2343F2k TN Panel monitor? It has 2ms GTG response time. Keep in mind I do photo editing too with adobe photoshop and lightroom.

So in TN panel which is the best blacks and RGB colour gamut in my budget?

Ok, so I can see why you are attracted to IPS. It's nice in working with pictures. We can't invent cheap IPS with low response time right now, so your choices are :

1. Increase budget to get IPS with slightly low response time. Depends on your eyes and attention to detail, but most people cannot notice a response time lower than 8ms.

2. TN, and if photo editing is not professional, it might work out to be ok. Colors you see on screen will be slightly different from colors on print but if you are not overly particular, it will be fine.

3. Cheap IPS and deal with slight ghosting in gaming. It's just for fun anyway, you'll get used to it.

Do keep in mind manyfacturer quoted response time is NOT accurate, check reviews.

I'm not a professional but love to do photography and editing work as hobby. And I have a hp laptop with a normal 1366x768 resolution. I think response time is 8ms and I'm okay with that. As I mentioned above the model AOC e2343F2k looks nice as it has 2ms GTG response time. I would like to know about the colour gamut, contrast and black level of it. Is there any model better than that or not?

I'm not sure about exact model numbers in TN panels. The AOC one has 2ms according to AOC or according to some third party reviewer?

It is not 2ms, it is 2ms GTG. What is GTG ? I think it makes the normal response time to thrice. Like 5ms GTG of IPS model that is actually 15ms.

G2G=Grey to Grey pixel response time,That means if the pixel is grey it takes it 2ms to change to a different color and then back to grey,It means 2ms G2G=5ms.If you're going for TN panel then go for Benq G2420HD-10k it's a great model you'll get good picture quality with HDMI and 24" screen. It's a vfm monitor.

But Benq G2420HD is very old model about 3 years old. And I didnt like the design too, lower part is annoying to see and only 40000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. How can it be better than AOC e2343F2k with 50000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio? I don't care about 1" more inch size of the screen. Colour production should be up to the mark in under 12k budget.

It doesn't matter if the model is old,It's still gives good features within less price,Yes the DCR is better on the AOC panel but there have been known ghosting issues on that panel and i don't know about the A.S.S of AOC,If you want a better DCR with reliable monitor then this is a good option-DELL ST2420L 24" Full HD LED

I had been using G2420HD for last three years and it is a super value for money and available around 10K (including VAT) in Bangalore. Though it is an old model, still it has reasonable config including HDMI, DVI and good colour reproduction (compared to other TN monitors).

If you decide to go on the Dell U2312HM way, do not worry too much about HDMI as a HDMI/DVI converter will do the job. But compared Benq, you will have to shell out 4.5K more. My friend was the same dilemma couple of weeks back and finally bought U2312HM.

My budget is limited I can not afford 14.5k monitor. Please suggest me some other 23" monitor under 12k that can produce great colours and black level beside G2420HD. How is LG E2351VR, Samsung S23A300B and Dell S2330MX in terms of image quality?
