Galaxy Nexus or Atrix HD for ~20k?

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I didn't want to make another thread for a small question.

I'm in the same dilemma, about buying a 20-25k android phone. I really like the Galaxy Nexus, but the only problem is warranty. How risky is buying phones without company warranty and with seller/dealer warranty instead? Am I absolutely screwed if my phone gets messed up, or are informal repairs reliable enough?

Informal repairs are always available. But since you are getting a phone without warranty, I would really suggest you buy the Motorola Atrix HD.

I have just bought that phone off eBay and am waiting for it's delivery. It's as powerful as the s3 and the one x, and it's awesome. Watch some of the reviews on YouTube. It's really good.

But if you insist on getting the Samsung galaxy nexus, just get it. Although not a powerful phone, it has really good support from everywhere and it's bound to get the next, 2 or 3 big Google updates

Has the phone been rooted? Last I read the phone was locked badly, no point in buying a device which does not have dev support.

Root is out. And devs have started working on it. I personally won't install anything in it as official jb will be out in December.

The phone is faster than the Indian one x ands s3, costing around 10k less. I'm more than happy with it. Will post a review if I can.

Please excuse my noob question - How are you able to use Motorola Atrix HD if its not jb?

Atrix HD is good. I have imported one already. Motorola build quality is far better than any Samsung or HTC. S&H die just by smell of water. Motorola on the other hand can be dipped (got wet during rain) and dried, have tried it myself.

Even if Jelly Beans is not released. Root is possible for Atrix HD, Safestrap always works & you can flash any custom ROMs, Jelly Beans has nothing so much special except Google Now.

I am using Samsung Galaxy Nexus on RCDMA with Jelly Beans.

If its between Atrix HD and Nexus, I would suggest go for Atrix, both are available without warranty, and in terms of specs the Atrix has better processor and GPU
I have nexus and I am totally satisfied with it, its got insane customizability, but one thing to look for is that Motorola shutdown its mobile operations in Asia some time back, so if my Nexus gets some defect I can take it to a Samsung service center but that for Motorola is quite tough

Samsung India never officially released the nexus in India. So how come they will have parts and do service for the phone even if its paid?
No other samsung phone in Indian uses a TI OMAP dual core and the screen size is also different from all other phones. So you might have to go for a 3rd party service from local dealer for either of these phones.

I know Samsung never released it in India, but I kinda heard that from one of my friends that it can be repaired at a service center(of course by our own cost), but then Nexus is more popular so the third party local service might be able to repair it, anyways if OP is good with "No warranty thing" Atirx is better choice
