why do the courier-agencies fear recipients checking their packages? because they run a chance to get the blame, or/and would've to bear the cost themselves for returning the product to the seller?
 
^Its simple. If sender has never sent the item then if you open it without signing, there is no proof that you have opened it. You and seller put blame on courier company.
 
So,we should always open package in front of courier guys then sign before taking ?
Just tell me what is best us ?
 
Some couriers do not allow "open box delivery. BlueDart is one. Jabong actually encourages you to open, check & then pay. I liked that confidence!

Looking at the increasing headaches being faced, I have switched over to CoD, where available.

Its not a humour. -_-
If the seller is a scumbag he'll send an empty package but tell the buyer to open the package. If the item is not there seller (and buyer) will blame the courier company for theft. So the courier is not the only one at fault here.

A guy on E who purchased xperia Z1 with many free accessories from flipkart, received empty box.

Thankfully flipkart investigated and acknowledged that they never sent the item in the first place...

oh! i see. in case of a rogue seller. thanks!
so the signing of a courier-receipt by the buyer would actually translate to, the buyer accepting the delivery after checking the package and having been satisfied with the service, even if he hasn't actually checked the parcel's contents, isn't it?!

Can also happen right here in this forum. Items might not necessarily go "missing" or "lost" but instead "damage during transit". Which is exactly why one has to be very careful even if the seller is a "reputed" member. Due to all this I prefer hand-to-hand deal. But embarrassingly I was once tricked.

So what's the next best thing if the courier refuses to allow opening of the package before signing the receipt & you don't really want to refuse delivery because it's a good deal? Video recording the unboxing is the only thing that comes to mind.

you were wronged in a hand-to-hand deal?! means you were the buyer? this world and its denizens....!! :mad:

damage in transit perhaps happens more often than we may think not. even if the item was insured beforehand, i can safely say it must be very tough for the victim to make the responsible courier-agency compensate even a little for the damage!

i had once read a post by a member (don't remember whether on this thread/forum or on some other) who had written that he does the same thing with his courier-deliveries (creating a video-footage of the unboxing of the package).
 
Now,I asked that seller about that note.
Got reply and he said that if I buy from ebay then courier will not allow to open the box.
He said that I should buy at least Rs.1K product from his website with COD option.
That's means seller totally lying at ebay.
Now if I buy from ebay and seler don't sent item as described.
And if I take from courier without opening bo then I might be in big trouble ?
What about ebay PaisaPay policy for buyer protection ?
Though I will have no proof cos I already signed courier without checking.
This seller is not PowerSeller but only 'me' written beside name.
