iPhone 5s, 5c to be sold by Reliance Communications at Rs 2,999, Rs 2,599 EMIs

Are people really expecting 3g to be unlimited? :p
How much would you do on a 3G connection? we've seen performance of Rcom 3G while introduction of Rs.123 3G 1gb plans. You will notice not more than 1-1.5mbps speed on average.
It is likely that most of them will do a max 4Gb/month on average. Law of averages. Unlimited is a marketing term.

lolwut? I am using reliance 3G atm dude. I have seen speeds like 1.25mb/s( ~12Mbps ) and more easily on my Nexus 4 and 700kb/s ( ~6Mbps ) in dongle (may be dongle's hardware restriction) They are doing great! atleast where I live. I have tested the same speeds at Jammu, Ambala City, Panchkula and Chandigarh. It's the best actually right now ... or may be not as I haven't compared it to docomo yet, but other's are just shit compared to reliance.

Though they scam alot. They say 1gb in 123, they give 500mb initially and 500mb after 48hrs but that most of the time never happens. Even in 246 plan, gives 1gb and that other 1gb after 48hrs never comes :(

It says unlimited roaming and unlimited calling. Does that mean unlimited outgoing too while on roaming :). in that case i would buy in delhi and use in bangalore.. how bad is reliance 3g in bangalore. i stay in koramangala and my work place is either whitefiled or electronic city..

If your usage will be above average, by their metric, then I think they could charge you.

Also, I think service tax will apply to the plan - which is 1499 pm IMO and you will get discount of 1499 on base rate.

yes

look guys, i have been on the unlimited plan for 1499 plus taxes
roaming incoming outgoing is free.
roaming sms is free, 3g data is 5gb however I will check. I switched my plan since i was in bangalore. its a good deal, the question is the taxes

there is no 3g in BLR, you get unlimited 2g and the coverage is decent. call clarity is lower than voda/airtel across india but not a dealbreaker!

Not related to Reliance but I don't understand why the iPhone ads on TV do not come on the usual Hindi channels like Sony. Star plus but they come on English movie channels and discovery, nat geo types.
If apple wants to increase sales they have to give ad on channels which more people watch and not just English channels.

my friend has booked the iphone 5S, he was told that there is 5GB data at 3G speeds after that speed will be limited to 2G , there will be 100hours FUP on calls also .

So its just false publicity from Reliance. I for one actually thought that the calls would be like unlimited. 100 hours/31 comes out to be 3 hours and 22 minutes per day. Which i guess is less .

they've done research on their target segment for their audience...... :)

never could max out those limits in terms of calls and sms, 3g well yeah depends on your usage... i wonder why and how ppl would use a personal phone for 3 hrs plus everyday in a disciplined manner...

now thats the 1499 plan plus taxes i was talking about.

can your friend confirm the taxes are extra per month? that would be helpful!

yeah, in recent days these kind of statements we are seeing routinely.
For example a while ago airtel advertised like they are going to offer free roaming with little note saying 5rs per day.
I think somebody should file a case against these false advertisements

I hate when these operators put their ad as "Get 1 GB FREE 3G Data in 251 Rs". Damn it, how is it free if you are charging 251 Rs ?
Later on they say, "After FREE usage you will be charged 2p/10KB or whatever".

the plan is similar to all other emi offers..

considering iphone 5s 16gb for 2999

As u will buy it from ur credit card. a sum of 61900/- will be deducted from ur account as emi purchase and these will be given to rcom.. now rcom is completely free as they got there payment no matter u run away..

now first thing is that you shud have a limit of MINIMUM 62000 on ur card to get the offer

now this 61900 will be collected from u in emi of 2999 for a period of 24months.
The Rate of interest applied is 15% P.A. on the principal amount.
Since its emi service, u hv to pay Servive tax on the interest generated ...NOT on the principal amount..

After 24 months u will end up in paying 71900 to bank.. that is 71900-61900=10000 intrst paid.. s.tax on 10k will be 1.2k.. so total cost 72+1.2=73.2k..

Another thing is that iphone is not locked and box packed too(no sim insrted initially).. you can use diif sim on iphone and reliance offer sim on other phone or u can seell iphone box packed just to get rcom benefits..

SUPPOSE u sell it for 50k.. then u not need to pay ANYthing from ur pocket for 1yr and 4mnths.. for last 7 or 8 mnths u need to pay 3k each mnth.. and finally 23k for unlimited 2yrs that is less than 1k per month..

some more terms... u HAVE to pay ur instalments no matter phone lost or u wanna upgrade or else bank agents will follow you

At first total 61900 may not get blocked, for example I purchased a camera from flipkart with EMI offer and they haven't the blocked the amount and they are charging only EMI in every month statement. If this is the case we may not require that much credit limit, anyway this depends on the bank.
http://www.rcom.co.in/iPhone/iPhone5s/faqs.html this link states that entire amount will be blocked on the card.
And service tax won't be charged on interest, service tax will be charged for only processing fees if applicable.

these were the key points i have read on a website article for rcom offer.
who have bought can only clarify all details
