Michael Schumacher Leaves Hospital For Home

Truth be told I was not a fan of Michael Schumacher in first stint. He would do anything to win tag people, park the car in the middle of track etc., This made my dislike for him grow even more. When he was forced to retire the first time I felt absolutely nothing.

When it was announced he was coming back alongside I felt bad for Nico but Nico not only held his own but even beat Michael statistically but he won me over during this stint. Most of the drivers up and down the grid seem to blame their team and point fingers for poor performance, this is something that I never saw him do despite the numerous retirements he had had due to mechanical failures. In 2012 not only he had closed the gap to Nico but could have beaten him had it not been the mechanical failures or a few bad decisions. Considering his age this was no small feat, heck I don't think anyone on the current grid or past would be up for this sort of challenge especially if it threatened their legacy.

When Mercedes announced that Lewis would be taking over he made way for Lewis without any drama just like he did for Kimi in 2006 at Ferrari. This time I felt gutted to see him leave.

He is the best team player any team could have and it is easy to see how he assembled the super team at Ferrari and he was doing the same at Mercedes alongside Ross Brawn.

The Man is a living legend and I hope he recovers soon.

2013 can't end soon enough.

OT: I hope Farooque Sheikh too finds peace in his new journey. I will always remember him for his shows Chamatkaar and Nirma Ahaa apart from his movies.

^^ Ditto. Was not following formula 1 before. Before loved his last stint with Merc. Missed to watch him race for the last time in India. Its how he played all through all his failures that made him a great personality. His performance was more than impressive for me even if it meant only one podium finish.
Just hope that he recovers and lives more to aspire other young drivers and sportsmen .....

There will be a press conference today at 12 PM GMT. I really hope we get some good news.

@onlyravi - That podium was fantastic. I think I remember Schumi jokingly saying that they were all Ferrari Drivers at some point and 1 still is. Oddly 1 went back to Ferrari but a podium of amazing drivers - The Red Baron, The Ice Man and The Samurai.

Lately there has been no news except a reporter who tried to break in and Schumacher's Birthday.

It is understood that he still in coma. His condition is still critical but stable.

There were some articles earlier claiming that he was out of danger but Schumacher's manager Sabine claims that those are untrue and he continues to remain in danger.

Updates are not expected till Monday. Hopefully we will be greeted with some good news on Monday.

Schumacher may never wake up from 'medically-induced' coma: Reports: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...induced-coma-Reports/articleshow/28896688.cms

Times of India is a pretty crappy news paper and they are referring to Daily Star who are referring to a German Publication who are quoting medical experts who are not reportedly treating Schumacher but are basing their comments on mere speculations. The problem with the entire scenario we don't know which statement was taken out context, by how much and what point in the chain neither do we know what are the so called speculations.

The other thing - medically induced coma is used for treatment of Brain Injuries and the patient can be taken out of Coma if the doctors see fit but keeping the patient in coma helps reduce the brain activity and gives the brain more time to heal. Keeping a patient in medically induced coma is actually good since it helps the patient heal and prevents further damage.

I think Autosport is a far better site to refer to in anything related to Motorsport especially F1.

All these news are just for some TRP and web site hits. I will believe only what the team of doctors treating MSC would say officially.
Rest all is utter nonsense and only speculation ..... When this accident happened the media got good TRPs and their sites had good traffic. Now since there is not much new development on this case and nothing much spicy to report they are coming up with such absurd statements from doctors in all parts of the world who might not even know what his line of treatment actually is.
I urge all F1 fans to stay away from all this non sense and not to help in spreading such baseless speculations.
What has to happen will happen and nobody can change that but the positive part is that he got good treatment at the right time and even now there is a lot of hope that he will walk away from that incident.
How is the quality of his adventurous/sports life after this incident is none of anyone's business since he had already retired from his sport and all other sports he played were only recreational not professionally ....
Just hoping the best for MSC.

@Sumit05 : why such a huge font dude?

I think it is understood by many at this point that Michael Schumacher will never be the same for good or bad but what is truly happening is unknown to anyone outside the circle of Schumacher's doctors, family members and friends.

The only thing we can do is not buy into these speculative reports and remain hopeful.

When it comes to F1 this year has been particularly unkind to F1 -
1. The year started with Michael Schumacher - one of the greatest drivers of F1 - in coma
2. John Button passed away
3. A team like Lotus is struggling with funds and for reasons financial or otherwise will miss out on the first Test

Let's hope things only get better from here.
