Storage Solutions Suggest a robust 1TB hard drive for OS and back up

I am presently using a 500GB HDD and a 180GB SSD to which OS will be installed. I will want to know which are the most reliable, fast internal hard drives available in the market(online&offline buy). I have bought Samsung and Seagate drives until now and RMA for seagate seems the easiest. Also does the manufacturers still offer 5 year warranty?

That's true. however, WD RMA needs customer send the drive back to their office?
Also, any specific 500GB or 1TB hard drives from WD or others - particular model?
Also, is WD Blue good enough? is WD black worth the extra money?

I wrote about that too in the last post. They pick it up.. And they drop off a new one..
 
@cool_cat : am in the market for a similar need. Almost finalized WD Black - the only drive with 5 year warranty. Problem is that most of the online sites are showing old models (not recommended due to smaller platter size). Finally settled on WD Blue or a Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 drive.
All the others (incl. Blue & .14) offer 2 year warranty). For sheer speed, it is the WD Velociraptor.

General advice: do not keep the OS & Data on the same drive.

Most likely, will be ordering tomorrow.

The WD Blue and WD Black used for normal computing like Storage, Gaming and Performance. WD Blue are your daily use drives; solid performance and budget drive. WD Blue models are available from 250GB to 1TB. WD Black are high performance drives, all about speed. WD Black models are available from 500GB to 4TB.

The following colors are describe the specifications for WD HDD.

WD Black = Speed/high end use, extended warranty.

Hi Jamabumali,

I am WD representative. My intention as participants and hopefully share useful tech knowledge that would benefit to this forum in terms of hard drives which is my specialty; and other tech related issues.

Brand new replacement or Recertified? Both are different.
