Newegg.com has 250GB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/AM) on sale for $89.99 - $15 w/ promo codeESCKANR22 = $74.99. Shipping is free.

Was on slick deals.

Thanks. I will mostly buy from amazon or ebay.com since I have amazon GC balance and a separate $100 GC to use and in my paypal I have like $50 odd so one of these, leaning more towards amazon and I am expecting that amazon might have some sort of lightning deal in Blackfriday or cyber monday.

Yeah last time I had bought a samsung 840 evo for $65 + taxes and got it shipped to my sister. Worth waiting for a month.

I would suggest you to wait till the BF sales. Noticed in the past SSD sales from Samsung are on Amazon and others are on newegg.
I would go Intel>Samsung.

Get the hard drive out and check its Serial no./Part no. on the internet for the following info.
Height(i.e. 7mm or 9.5 mm)
SATA port capable or not.If yes then check the SATA version II or III)
If it is 7mm and SATA capable then the 850 EVO will work without a hitch. In case it is 9.5 mm then you will have to scour amazon/ebay etc. for the adapter

So Seagate Momentus 5400.6 is my Hard disk. Doesnt say much on it though. Can you please help figure out which would be compatible SSD to replace?

Intel still uses the pathetic sandforce controller for their sata ssds. They aren't the best in performance and have so so reliability. Best avoided! I know of a couple of folks with dead 335 ssds.

See if you can find a good deal on the Sandisk Extreme Pro 240GB. It's on par with the 850 Pro, but since rumours of a newer version coming, prices have been quite low and occasionally at clearance prices.
750 Evo would be a step backwards from the V-NAND in the 850 Evo.

SSD prices are more or less static or starting to go up. After tracking for some time, pulled trigger on Crucial MX200 500GB for $139

Though TLC, Corsair Force LE looks pretty good according to few sources - 480GB for $109 (dont know why I chickned out on this :))
Think there was a recent shell shocker deal on PNY CS2211 480GB for $94 (MLC)
