External fan connector on DH55TC plus SATA vs eSATA

I have a DH55TC INTEL board.
I have a few queries regarding it.

I can see it has a 4 pin rear fan connector but the after market fans have a 3 pin or even 2 pin plugs

How to connect them, at present i just purchased a simple 80mm fan with 2 pin plug as i didn't know how to plug it in so i attached a 4 pin molex plug to it and connected straight with my smps lines. Works but rotates at full speed ans makes some noise.. Wish to attach it to motherboard so that speed can be regulated.

Edit : i read and found out that out of the 4 pins from that header 1 and 2 are to power the fan and 3 and 4 are for monitoring and controlling the fan speed respectively... So i guess there is no point wasting time in finding ways to attach the generic fan with the mobo as the purpose won't be fulfilled.
Please corre t me if i am wrong here...

Another thing, today I noticed there are many other sockets on the board what are they for like one big one says parallel something.. Etc


This board has as many as 6 sata ports but there are 2 of those which are marked as esata what are they for actually, I can see i have att ahed my main hdd and dvd writer with those two ports


To one sata port my backup 2. 5 hdd is attached.. Are these right connections or i should change them


I will keep updating my queries as i wish to learn about my pc a bit more

You are correct regarding the fan controls and only way to control the fans is to have either 4pin or 3pin connector fans but if you are okay with tinkering and okay with reduced fan speed you can remove the molex pins from the socket and reinsert them in the 5v section of the molex(assuming they are 12v fans in the first place)

Regarding the sata connectors, eSATA stands for external SATA, meaning if you want to connect an external sata device then you can do so in those ports. You can use these eSATA ports for both external and internal devices it doesn’t matter. You don’t need to change anything.

Actually the molex, male / female connection is directly coming out from the smps and i ll have to cut them, secondly I don't see any hrafers on the board thta can take that big molex plug.

May be i am not getting what you are referring to, I do want to reduce the speed hence the noise a bit

I am sorry for not being clear before, you dont have to cut anything.
This is your fan connector

In this you have 12v, 5v and 2 neturals. What you have to do is remove all the pins from the socket and reinsert the 12v +ve in the place of 5v+ and netural in netural place

You can leave the 5v+ and netural as they are of no use to us now. When you connect the molex to the molex from psu, your fan will be running at 5v, which will be a lot quite but will also be moving less air. You can use one of these to remove the pins

You may see in the picture that i shared above, the fan came with just a single 2 pin small connector ( so technically only 2 wires from that 12v fan)
So what i did was i cut the molex male / female plugs from an old fan and connected them to this new fan.
And then connected the molex to my smps
Here highlighting the pin and above that the connection i made with the spare molex ones

I am unable to view the attachment, but let me get this straight, you cut the 2 wire from the fan and joined it with 12v and netural wire on the molex connector? If this is the case you can just reconnect it to 5v line.

Totally correct dear mate.
 
you can move the negative to red/5v, keep positive to yellow/12v to get 7V, in case 5V is too slow.
