Selling Stolen Products in Market section

Hi,

The market section(Buy/Sell) Rules have a flaw.

anybody can come here and sell products without any bill or proof of purchase.
A member here has sold over 100 products without any bill.

Now I can understand if someone misplaces one or two bills. But misplacing 100 bills :eek::eek:;)

Sounds fishy na. On top of this the mods dont take any action.

I suspect that the products are obtained from Online Fraud(Ordering on Amazon/Flipkart and sending back used items and keeping the news ones).
After that coming here to this forum and selling the fraudulently obtained products and probably giving a cut here and there to cleanup posts to mods.

Just like mumbai Police (SSR case) ...:woot::woot::woot::woot:

Next we'll have phone batteries(removed from stolen phone) and then climb to selling stolen phone... :p:p:p
We have our little homegrown mini online chor bazaar in the making.

So I suggest the management/mods of the forum take some decisive action.

This used to happen in the thousands in erodov forum where people used to sell used items at throw away prices without any proper bills or anything but here in tech enclave it's somewhat refined not like in erodov.
 
Well without proofs, as the mods say, we all might as well shut up. They are quick to lock threads so that no discussion happens.

Case at hand _ ryzen 3800x sold for 21k by one member, he told me friend business loss , so he is selling, then he told other buyer a different story.
The seller promised sealed pack, pics were provided too , but buyers got open pack. Maybe used ones too.

One member was banned recently. Why? Cos he bought some stuff here and sold it higher price else where ...he did not resell here, right ? Then why ban for that reason.

If that's the autocratic way things are being done here, it won't be too late before we see TE go the erodov way.

Fine if some members want to use forum for business purpose then no harm . Charge them for profiteering and ensure tax compliance. They need to have proper GST infra in place.

Pls point to that thread so there are no misconceptions, AFAIK, jaydip did not sell here, he bought full pc from a new member are tried to sell on his FB Group, there too he lied about "upgrading", that is a different matter. So let us keep things clear and open.

There are some notable members in the forum whose primary duty is to buy and sell.
They used to do it in erodov and now have shifted their focus to tech enclave for their ends to meet.
Mods should take notice of such members but in case of fraud they can be banned otherwise how to deal with such people I don't know.

sir, there is nothing wrong in doing it as a business. but it has to be done within the framework of law, pay your taxes, also source of material should be transparent

Just a suggestion - should newly joined members be allowed to sell costly products such as processors or gpuz over 10-15k?

I would suggest making some provision to sell costly products only say after you have been a member for 2-3 years or already done few low cost deals with good ratings?

This might reduce the chance of receiving not as described product as happened in the case of 3800x which was sent open box?

I do agree that providing proof of purchase should be necessary. However, calling someone out without having any actual proofs, like you did in the OP, insinuating collusion between moderators and fraudsters is completely inappropriate as well.

I have said this in the other thread as well - Why don't some people get, that the Marketplace is not the main feature of the forum. No forum administration wants to waste effort in moderating the Marketplace as they aren't getting paid for the hassles it entails. This is the reason XDA marketplace got closed as well. In my opinion, the marketplace is just like OLX or any other place where one can trade in used products and everyone is responsible for themselves. Do your homework and cover all your bases if you want to trade,just like one would at other places. Buying and selling on the forum doesn't and shouldn't take away the risks as the forum is not getting paid to cover those risks and the people trading shouldn't try to pass over that responsibilty of doing their homework to the forum administration.

I am not talking about resellers. He is talking about people selling stolen products and I am talking to that point. I think even eBay doesn't have any policy which can mitigate people selling stolen products and they charge for selling on their platform. I am sure the forum administration have made it pretty clear they don't want to become an escrow service, which is the only way to provide security and mitigate the risks that come with tradin used/new stuff online. So why are we forcing them to invest their time and effort where they don't want to just so that it makes our lives easier.
Also, I don't think you agree with him when he says that there is collusion between forum administration and such fraudsters.

I remember there being a dealer section who were charged a fees. Don't remember the forum ever having registered resellers.
