User Guides For people looking to add more Floor clearance to their CPU cabinet.

Usual CPU cabinets, no matter the brand and price, will have very less floor clearance, and most of the people might be placing them on the floor to save more desk space. Now, this invites building up of dust, hair and other stuff under your CPU, this affects the ventilation upto some extent as usually PSU intake fan is pointing down with not much ground clearance. And not to mention how harmful this dust and Hair strands are for a PC, unless you are cleaning it properly every week or something. Now, one of the options is to get a CPU cabinet stand, but what that stand does is basically lifts your CPU up by an inch or so, however, your CPU is still resting on another solid surface instead of your floor, so the question of room for PSU intake fan and floor clearance in general still exists. Now, even the cheapest of these stand with decent customer ratings on amazon would be costing close to 2,000 INR. I don't know why but I was pretty skeptical about this thing in particular and that's when I tried a neat little DIY trick, not really a DIY instead a JUGAAD as we call in Indian language. I order some heavy duty Steel Furniture legs from Amazon, cross checking the diameter of the legs of cabinet with the diameter of these furniture legs. Then I placed them under my Cabinet legs, basically the furniture legs are larger and the cabinet legs stay on the inner side of little cavity, ensuring that it is not getting displaced(not that we intend to play kabaddi with our cabinet, but still). Now I have a floor clearance of about 3-4 inches, which allows easy regular cleaning of the floor under and no building up of dust and hair. Everyone might not be interested in this, but those who are, there you go !

Ha ha this is sort of coincidental. I was about to create a thread seeking suggestions for a cabinet trolly/ stand but now you say this. But this looks a bit scary to me. I have a Corsair 500R, don't know its weight by default and I would like to purchase a stand for peace of mind. Anyone has any suggestions? Would prefer if the wheels are metal and not plastic but if its sturdy then no matter.

Well, currently my cabinet weighs close to 12 kg as per me. Yeah I have not used a professional weighing mechanism or anything. The problem with those CPU stands is a solid surface on which your CPU base would be seating, making none to little floor clearance. Also, check the dimensions properly for most of the amazon products and you will realize that their length is smaller than the cabinet length, means some portion of your cabinet would be overhanging.
why do this when you can get decent CPU stand with wheels for like 500~600
Guess I already mentioned I looked the option but cabinet base almost touching the stand was not something I wanted.

I have made custom wooden stand according to my cabinet size hp500 mesh with bush for easy moving and cleaning right from 2013.
