Have been meaning to write this post for some time now, anyway, finally got down to it. I have voiced my opinion on a few sale threads; but hope to have this as a general info for all;

1) I feel many of the members here behave in a very rude/non courteous manner.
a) They will commit to a sale and then simply not reply. - If you have any issues, financial, change of heart, found better deal, can you not have the decency to pull out of the deal? Yes, it may cause irritation to the seller, but you not replying is even more irritating. What's worse is, you will continue to be active on the forum, online on WhatsApp and still not reply. Can you not take 15 secs to write 5 words?

b) Not acknowledging/replying to PMs./Question - If you ask for info, price, details and the seller/FM replies can you not acknowledge with a "ok will get back to you", "sorry, over my budget", "thanks" if you a time crunch, hit the 'like' button to show you have seen it. If the seller comes back asking for your interest, do give a reply. Is that not basic etiquette? The only time I see this being acceptable is if you get a ridiculous low-ball offer.

c) OLX type PMs - 'last price' - I mean can we not do a basic greeting? I personally find this a bit rude. While I may be guilty in a few instances of replying to such messages in a similar manner. I try my best not to.

2) Members that have a problem with pricing - This should be a simple decision tree.
If;
a) You have interest in the product - Take PM route, with facts and other details as to why you have a problem with the pricing. Don't say things like "remove one zero from your price"

b) You do not have interest in the product - Move along/ignore/hide the thread from your feed.


3) Selling products higher than the price you bought it (Except GPUs in the current situation, I will reserve my comments here as I personally have mixed feelings on the topic)

If a person got a product in a one-time sale or pricing error on Amazon, what's the problem with he/she selling it for a profit IF it is still lower than a new one? (Warranty etc. needs to be factored). Would you rather pay Amazon/dealer full price than take a product at a discount from a FM?

4) Selling items won as a prize, bundled gift

If a person is selling a product that he/she won or received as a bundle but is giving you a good deal, why is this a problem?

Some of us on the forum may be very rich, some of us are just trying to increase our income in any small ways possible. We all want the best deals for the items we sell/buy, don't we? So I personally believe, as long as you are getting a good deal, y make an issue?

5) Bashing of Mods.

Seen a few people bashing mods for no reason or due to some past incident. While i cannot comment on the cases you may have experienced with them in the past, my experience has been fairly good. Yes, I have received late replies at times. But AFAIK these guys are doing it out of their own free will, (with no remuneration too I suppose?) don't treat them like they OWE you. Seen some blind accusations being made. Sometimes, mods may not feel the need to justify EVERY action, which depending on the situation, is ok.

Agree, mate. But sadly, there are a senior members too that display the above behavior too, which is quite a shame.
 
Being straightforward and extremely honest may sound rude but it should always be preferred over sugar coated remarks from bunch of deceitful losers. Truth will always be bitter. Moderators also should be able to justify their actions (or inactions). We all know they are doing it for free, but point is, who asked them to? They took on the job on their own, so might as well carry out the responsibilities that come with it.

This remark is in general and has absolutely nothing to with the SALES section.

I remember buying Doom from a guy who got it bundled with AMD gpu (not sure here or erodov).
I got it at a price lower than steam sale price.
Both parties benefit in this case.
 
Lowballers exist on every platform.
Heck. Once I was giving away a car seat on fb marketplace, people were pinging me asking for more pictures showing year of manufacture, bundled accessories etc.

After living with my in laws I've become more experienced in dealing with thick skinned cheapskates. It's a fact of life. It's one of those adulting things you need to do.

Mate, I never had any issues with people being straight up and honest. But I do see some people in our country that believe the second a product is opened, its resale value is half of it's purchase value. To them that ideology is "honesty" or being "straight up". I was talking to a person (very junior, I saw because he contacted me on Facebook and I saw his profile.) about a product I wanted to sell, he started telling me how I was expecting WAY too much and said the max ANYONE will pay for it is xxxx ( i got 50% more than what he was suggesting). W.r.t your comments about mods, I would not want to comment on that as I. Seems like you have had a sour experience with one of them for which I will not want to get into or judge either you or the mods.

Spot on! Win-win is what these forums should be about. Not "oh you got it for x rate and I did not, so i will not buy it from you. That's just being egoistic. (This is not a blanket statement, so do not pounce, this is definitely wrong in certain cases)

I try not to entertain low ballers, I remember my experience with one such fellow when I agreed on his “suggested” price on OLX just to check if he was even serious, he suddenly started giving excuses like today I have some work, will come next week bla bla. This was when he was pinging me on almost daily basis. So the sense of entitlement these losers have is something you will see everywhere and this place is no different. I also don’t subscribe to people who say that mods should do that do this, again sense of entitlement which I see commonly here.

"Entitlement" you're bang on there, my friend, very common here indeed. Really wish people would stop being that way!

OK I understand. As I assumed you started this topic from the buyer-seller perspective only. And what you say is absolutely right. Low-ballers are the worst. I just ignore them totally. If I low ball as a buyer, I would totally be fine if the seller does the same to me. It's just the Indian mindset, we cannot do anything about it other than getting annoyed and angry from time to time. This is never ever going to change.

I once had a member on this forum with 10+ market feedback threaten to leave negative feedback because he did not get a product I was giving away for FREE. Had very poor communication skills / wrote in broken English and sent me a few PM's trying to get my number because he wanted to "speak to me". Ignored the crap out of him -

Again, the "entitlement" attitude. These guys are seriously pathetic. You did the right thing!
 
Well, I had a similar experience here. I was giving away a few steam games, and after taking the games, a very senior member, who is still very active, did not even respond.

Since it was among my first market posts, I didn't know if I could even ask for feedback. I did though, but didn't get any response from him.

He is still, to this day posting sale threads, and pretty helpful responses to people.

Life is like that, I suppose.

Yea, when I think about these things it seems petty for us to care about these things, but I know exactly how you feel. But as you said, it's how the life is. (Though I feel these things are more common with our countrymen)
