What Investment mistakes you made that you want others to avoid?

Guys I've just started investing for the 1st time and I've decided to go with MF's by starting two SIP's of 2000 p.m each. I'm 28 years old right now and was thinking of getting one SIP with high returns and one with moderate around 9-10 %. Could you good selves please suggest me 2 such MF's to start investing with? Thanks in advance :)
+1 to this

How are you assuming one of them will give high and one will give moderate reasons. Don't go by past performance. You cannot predict what will happen.

Edit: Re-read what you had written. You are asking for 2 such MFs, sorry I cannot answer that honestly. Good Luck.

High returns - Any of the blue-chip funds - https://www.etmoney.com/mutual-funds/equity/large-cap/32
Moderate returns - Any debt gilt fund - https://www.etmoney.com/mutual-funds/debt/gilt/66

I'm not that adept at all these kinds of investments but 80% of my wealth is around 1L cause I'm just is in crypto, taking high risk, this is all the pocket money I have saved, waiting hoping it grows enough so I can buy a 3080 at scalper price

Max SIP allowed Rs. 2500 per month.

Axis or Mirae ELSS
Some of the best funds don't perform well in some years. If you get 15% ROI over a decade consider that good!

I don't think anyone here is qualified to give you such names. You haven't mentioned your risk tolerance level either. But read about active and passive funds. To simplify it even more read about index funds and large cap funds.

Noone is really "qualified" to give these advices anywhere. Folks usually go with the info they have one hand... monitor their fund progress .. make changes as time goes.

I meant that one here is a SEBI registered investment advisor.
Nice dp. Squat man squat. Light weight baby.

It's best to invest by yourself - But should spend little bit of time -(1hr a day) -

Option :- 1 - Open small case app & invest in the app directly. ( Rs.100 - Per Script).
Option :- 2 - in Small case - open the bundle which is shown as free and read the stock and percentage split accordingly u do invest in your Demat. ( Re-Positioning happens every Qtr. accordingly u do re-invest.)

Expected an annual return for about 15-25% which is moderate.

All the above things are for the capital which is less than 5Lakh.

If it's more than 5Lakh some other strategies to be used to hedge your positions.

For 2000 u split accordingly and do u r investment ( for Long term ).

PPFAS Flexi cap fund. They are really good - focus on only one equity fund, has international exposure, regular and quality outreach to unitholders about their rationale.

I mostly do direct equity investing using multiple methods - BTFD, momentum, mean revision, value etc to keep things smooth. One thing I have learned is that sticking to one thing is not a good idea. For example, if you were investing using value you'd be hard pressed to find good investing opportunities in this historic bull run. The last run on commodities might have given you some stocks to work with but those returns came a gap of 3-4 years. In the meantime momentum worked like a charm.

From a funds perspective same thing applies. There is no one best fund. Mix and match based on fund manager's style.

Hey I am planning to invest 2.5k every month on a mutual fund , Suggestions please . or should i go with a RD ?

I already have a onetime investment in Axis Long Term Equity Direct plan growth and Mirae Asset Tax saver fund direct.
The whole confusion here is is RD better or MF in a 1 year return because i have to pay LIC every year and will definitely withdraw this money no matter what. Instead of paying at a time entire year thought this method is easy to pay and adjust my savings.

Check PPFAS Mutual funds. Flexi Cap.
No guarantee about the returns but the guys handling this are honest and stick to principles.

A noob question about direct equity. I feel entering the direct equity way is the hardest part because we will always feel that the price might fall a little more. For those investing in direct equity how did you get past this? Anyone investing in foreign direct equity?

I am someone who fits this category. I think if you are investing for a large period of time, I think share price should not matter if it goes down or up. Also don't keep checking your portfolio daily. That will just increase anxiety. I am an invest and forget kind of investor so I am trying to follow what I have mentioned above.

Same here. What you have mentioned is true for large companies be it in the domestic market or international. A quickie, say you buy some shares @ say 100 inr or $100 usd and the price increases to 110 or decreases to 90. Then how will you react? Ignore the increase or decrease and keep on buying gradually? Are you investing in international markets in direct equity?

It comes with experience. New investors tend to be focused on being profitable at the very first instance but things are more complicated than that. For me, first thing I learned is that markets don't move in a straight line - neither up or down. If it did you will never get a chance to buy or sell anything. Second, you need to be a the best loser. There are going to be losses and there are no holy grail systems where you win everything. And if you are concerned about being right or wrong in investing then it might not be for you at all.
One way you can be a good loser is by controlling your risk. Don't dump everything into one stock because someone said so. Spread it out.
The other way to be a good loser especially if you are investing mechanically like I am is by understanding expectancy of your investing method. It will tell you your avg expected return. And then understand the law of large numbers. In a large sample you tend to move towards average. So with enough time your results will move towards that expected return - odd losses notwithstanding.
