Nothing Phone

First batch is already out of stock. The timing was perfect. If they had launched this after Pixel 6a launch in India, it would have been a disaster. Rest depends on word of mouth now. Those who start using the phone will define the course that this company takes in India.
the problem with pixel phone , it is overpriced for indian market and new pixels have their socs made from samsung ( heats easily + inefficient) other wise pixel 4 ,5a was is still a belter

I think they could have a winner here if they do end up providing 2-3 years of software support & good qc & service experience. As some have state before, this phone does fill a void which was left when OnePlus decided to go all crazy with prices & software & many folks do prefer stock android. I really hope carl pie is able to successfully create the magic that Oneplus phone created under him in the earlier Oneplus days.

Android 13 is coming soon and if Nothing can update the phone 1 to 13 within a week or two, it is going to create massive buzz. They may do it, just for that positive PR.

White led on back looks so cheap... should have been rgb.
they have intentionally made controversial design for leds , they describe the went for thinner edges on display to make it symmetric etc etc . than why not your glyph leds .It would feel so great to hold that phone due to its metallic frame and the finish .reminds me of very special nokia 925

Now xiaomi or other bbks will come up with xenon or halogens or rickshaw leds...
Also, I seriously doubt the efficiency of that meh 4.5k mah battery...they say it lasts 18hrs.. so practically 10-12hrs only. (reminds of pixel phones, good phone with shit juice)
And the back panel bling will only suck more battery...

we are in a certain age group hence a thought like this . if we were to be 20-25 hell yeah cool phone

Might consider this brand but only after several polishing may be in 3rd variant. Right now looks a bit rough. Looks cool to me but will be awaiting more polished variants and more innovations and cool features..
Also will look out for custom roms as they will definitely jump up all these features + add much more..

I''m still very young by mind etc. so yes I will fall for cool stuff but for me it must be Precisely cool... not any throwaway baby bling blong and will dance with it..

thats our age ,thats why i too went for poco f4 was dropped the plan to flip it with nothing looking at the pricing

For the TG that loves stock Android and wireless charging, it's 2k overpriced. For all others (which is most of India), it's around 7-8k overpriced because then it competes with mi 11 lite, m52, realme 9 pro plus etc.
I feel like this obsession with raw spec's has gone too far in India. I mean, when tech nerds and gamer kiddos are saying its 8k overpriced compared to other 778g phones then it's fine but it makes no sense when normies, who certainly don't care (or sometimes even notice) that their 870 phone stutters because of poor software, end up buying a phone *just* for the specs. I suspect a lot of this is because of all the new indian tech youtubers and their "reviews". There is much more to the experience that just raw specs.

It takes a lot of wisdom to communicate that. Talking about specs is much easier.
You should not buy the Nothing Phone 1 if:
  • You shoot a lot of videos with your phone and don’t have time to wait for a potential software patch to fix the current orange tint issue.
  • You want the absolute best value and the Xiaomi 12 Lite is available in your region. If you are in India, you have other options for value-for-money.
;)

Absolutely. I do not understand why people think that SD8 is always better than SD7.

SD870 CPU: 1x Cortex A77 @ up to 3.2 GHz + 3x Cortex A77 @ 2.42 GHz + 4x Cortex A55 @ 1.80 GHz 7nm fab
SD778G+ CPU: 1x Cortex A78 @ up to 2.5 GHz + 3x Cortex A78 @ 2.2 GHz + 4x Cortex A55 @ 1.90 GHz 6nm fab
SD870 GPU: Adreno™ 650 2 execution units, 512 shaders, 7nm fab
SD778G+ GPU: Adreno™ 642L 4 execution units 384 shaders, 6nm fab.

Unless you game a lot, the 778G+ has a faster CPU that also runs cooler thanks to better fabrication and more efficient A78 cores. We are well past this 'only the top of the line SD8 series chips can keep phone fast'. Moreover, we forget the fact that the Nothing Phone 1 does not come with bloatware and heavy skins. This means more CPU and GPU is available for 'your' apps. One thing that I am doubtful about is 'memory management'. Being a brand new company, I doubt if they have memory management as good as the top player.

After purchasing a OnePlus One at launch (with their coupon shenanigans) and seeing them devolve tremendously as a company, don't really have much hope for Nothing, especially as Essential had a far more promising product at launch and failed to go anywhere.

I assume this will appeal to some people who think it is cool, but ultimately would be surprising to see this company provide a competent level of service on software as well as hardware.

Essential's biggest mistake is not trying to expand to markets like India. They did not really try. Moreover, they did not have someone like Carl Pei whose marketing skills are well known. I do not think Essential phone recevied this amount of buzz back then.

Adding to this, Essential phone came in the market when OnePlus was already the best at its game. There wasn't an opening in the market for Essential phone to slide into.

if someone could get sd 778 phone with stock android at 20k ,though mi 11 lite 5g is a belter at current pricing it single handedly trounces all the sd 695 based phones
