Yes but that's an i5 8265U (movile sku with very low power from intel). I was just saying that 5800X is not needed (like someone mentioned above)
 
Guys, steam sends compressed stream. And CPU is used to uncompress that data stream. Network, storage etc access is handled by the dedicated purpose built chips and it's been like that more than 2 decades. Barring stream-videos and torrents almost everything is compressed over the internet including TE website. You need CPU horsepower to unzip the data. Encryption or HTTPS (SSL) is also CPU bound but afaik it super negligible.

Anyway, I contacted airtel customer care and I received message next day that 'service is not present in your area' which sounds like pure BS.

Is there a direct way to contact local airtel folks?
Also, can you disable static IP and enable dynamic IP for a few hours on airtel?

I don't think so. I think your best bet is call the installation guy and ask for local engineer's cell number.
Or just go to Airtel app and create a complaint regarding internet speed. Local engineer will be deployed.

Have not tried this personally. But on the Sercomm router the settings for WAN connection are configurable. On Nokia router, they are greyed out and set only by the Airtel backend staff.

On Huawei router too some/most settings are locked but a simple HTML edit can enable it and I can then save it too.

So things like Wifi channel etc. are locked but here you can just delete the "disabled" HTML attribute, choose what you want and save it.

You should also note that TR069, which is their remote management service (basically a backdoor/RAT on your modem). They can anytime enter your modem settings page and do whatever they want. Like reset what I just did above. I came to know about this after couple weeks of installing and my settings just reset and I had some issues with my extended network which depends on fixed wifi channels.

So I disabled that too by adding dummy ACS URL and saving after enabling those fields since it wasn't just allowing me to uncheck the topmost option and save.

Kinda off-topic but Airtel had the nerve to put up a advertisement poster on my gate with contact details of the local guy to switch to airtel fiber. As I had been facing intermittent issues with Jio, called them up. Turns out they can't service my house due to some node issue or some similar bullshit.

Did the only respectable thing and cut up the ad poster into 100 pieces!
 
I asked around. Airtel doesn't provide service in my area. It's more like airtel isn't allowed. We have like 5-10 local players and there's a cut-throat competition between them. More than often these ISP (some of them are run by local corporators) undercut the competition by illegal means. Airtel doesn't bother competing with local guys. They only seek societies with multiple buildings. It's a safe haven for them.

If airtel was present in nearby buildings, it would have shown up in my wifi. I suppose, airtel customers don't or can't change default SSID.
 
I have Rs799 100Mbps plan and they gave me ZTE router. If I call them up and ask for static IP then will they upgrade it from their backend or do I have to ask for Nokia router in order for it to work?

You don't need router change.

Either they will change from backend or send someone to configure it for you.
 
My experience with their service has been superb with mayeb 99% uptime. We have two lines one for my own and the other for family and the range with their stock router is great.

The installation guy back in 2020 did mention to me that the new routers are trash compared to huawei one which they no longer give out due to the ban. He had 1 in his bag saved up which he offered to me without even asking for it.

I was offered the Huawei one when I discovered the limit for 8 port forwarding rules in the Sercomm one. I told them I wanted the Nokia one. Bad decision from my end I guess
