This vs Ardbeg 10?
I dont usually drink peaty. Last one I had was Lagavulin 16 many years ago. Dont know Ardberg but the friend who wanted this said its less peaty than Ardberg. definitely less than Lagavulin if my memory serves right. Its also sweeter though. sweeter than regular whiskys I drink. Also, I drink straight but this one i had on the rocks.

Really enjoying tequila this summer. Recently bought a bunch of Don Julio and Cincoro (Michael Jordan’s brand) and really enjoying them with a slice of orange/lemon and tonic. Staying away from single malts in the summer.

try mezcal if you can find. mezcal is considered what we call tharra, but recently they started making them for export and some of them are really good. usually stronger than tequila. Also, make a margarita with fresh fruit and you will become a fan.

Any recommendations for nice Mezcal? Opening Zignum next weekend

The following is how much human liver gets damaged with very moderate drinking. The specimen "L1" belongs to an individual who had four 60 ml drinks per week over the span of three years. He was diabetic. The large ugly lump on the liver on the left is cancer. The little black and dark brown bumps are "cirrhotic nodules" which were formed when this poor liver tried its best to regenerate but failed; thanks to "low to moderate" drinking.

Specimen L2 is the gift of very occasional drinking. In this case, the alcohol intake of the 31 years old man was much lower than the individual specimen L1 belongs to. He did not have cirrhosis but had to get a liver transplant for liver failure due to severe alcohol-related hepatitis.

Science around Moderate Alcohol Consumption

  • The Guidelines note, “Emerging evidence suggests that even drinking within the recommended limits may increase the overall risk of death from various causes, such as from several types of cancer and some forms of cardiovascular disease. Alcohol has been found to increase risk for cancer, and for some types of cancer, the risk increases even at low levels of alcohol consumption (less than 1 drink in a day).”
  • Although past studies have indicated that moderate alcohol consumption has protective health benefits (e.g., reducing risk of heart disease), recent studies show this may not be true. While some studies have found improved health outcomes among moderate drinkers, it’s impossible to conclude whether these improved outcomes are due to moderate alcohol consumption or other differences in behaviors or genetics between people who drink moderately and people who don’t.

My personal opinion on those who lie to themselves and others that they drink for "health benefits" - Working out, eating healthy and remaining stress free are how you actually reduce risk of heart disease. Nobody drinks alcohol to "reduce risk of hearth disease". It's a stupid and funny excuse. I am of the opinion that alcohol is truly a socially accepted poison. Nothing is cool about it. I have seen people give lame excuses like "Devatas" on the "Swargaloka" consume "Soma rasa", including the king of "Indra Dev", so it's a good and normal thing. This excuse is even more pathetic because according to the purana, Gods are immortal and humans are not. Lol
