Screeching noise from washing machine

Lately, I have been noticing this screeching kind of noise from the washing machine.
It happens for the first few minutes or when the drum is rotating slowly. Doesn't happen when the drum is in rinse/spin cycle.
Any idea what this issue could be? I would like to know a little bit of info to avoid technicians later trying to rip off unsuspecting customers for unnecessary repairs/replacements.

Couldn't hear any screeching sound in your video? Post a longer video and mention time codes where it's happening

Was on bt speaker earlier. With earphones I can hear it now

Does it happen when water is filling?

Should also happen during the start of the rinse cycles

Doesn't happen during water filling. Happens when a cycle is started and drum rotates slowly, but when drum is spinning fast it doesn't happen.

Yes. It happens when the drum spins only.

I tried to manually spin the drum and it didn't give any sound.

I'll try again with another wash cycle and observe if it is happening during water filling or not.

Next is, try to figure out where the sound is coming from.

Top of the machine or bottom?

Not always as this video shows. Trouble is he didn't record the screeching sound. Also it's an LG.

Sammy here is belt driven. I've not found any videos which have this sound so it will take some detective work

I've put another cycle just now and this is what I've observed.

Initially it fills water, takes a few seconds break and drum rotates slowly for few seconds. When water is filling, it doesn't make any noise. That noise is heard only when the drum rotates slowly (probably to mix the water or something).

Once the drum starts rotating with little more speed, the noise doesn't occur.

Also, the noise seems to be coming from bottom side.

Get down low and listen where the little door is

It's possible it's coming from the drain pump then.

Why not check if there is anything stuck there.

Try a couple of cotton 95 washes with Vanish. See if the sound goes away is another thing to try

I tried doing drum cleaning with different descalers, the shaking is almost gone somehow, but noise is still present, but comes randomly only when the drum is rotating slowly.

Few weeks before I called samsung care and they said visiting charges of 700+gst. I asked whether this charge includes repairing or if this charge is just for visiting and they said I will have to check with technician. It seemed too weird and I didn't proceed with the technician visit. I will have to call/email again and see if I can get clear info on how they will charge. Because if visitation is 700 smthg and then if they charge 700 again when they get the parts to repair, this is too much. Just my thought.

For now I'm using it as is. The shaking/wobble seems way less than before somehow. I really appreciate you for asking abt this.

I think that's normal. The difference is with Samsung it's 700. With Bosch it's more

So everytime they visit we have to pay 700+gst?
Like first they visit, check the device, assess the situation and say they need to get parts, takes that 700+gst and leaves. Next week they come with parts, repair the device, again takes 700+gst and then add labor charges extra in the bill. Is this normal then?
 
I don't know if it applies the second time but first time yes. Second time will likely be a Labour charge and whatever parts

Unfortunately yes. I didn't feel like the technician is genuine or professional. I emailed samsung to clarify about the charges. Once they reply, I'll book for technician visit and assessment again.

This shaking business you never mentioned before. It's not in your video.

It should not be happening with an empty tub clean. So I don't know how it started and why it stopped. Could be as simple as counterweight becoming loose and in need of a tightening of its bolts. That's what I would look at if it happens again

Sometimes I get some squeaking when I use citric acid. It only happens when the drum is rotating slowly. It goes away after some time. It's the drum touching the gasket which becomes more grippy whenever an acidic descaler is used.

The sound from your machine isn't a squeak though. It sounds more metallic.

Tbh, the shaking use to happen when the spin cycle speed is 1000 rpm or 800 rpm. It also use to happen in another case, where if we wash few clothes by hand and put them in the drum without shaking off water or wringing the clothes to remove water before putting in drum. I tried 600rpm and it wasn't that shaky. Since then I started using only 600 rpm and never bothered much about it. That's why didn't mention it before.

We recently shifted to a different flat. My cousin who didn't know I choose the rpm specifically, just selected the default spinning rpm and then I noticed it didn't shake that much as before. That transportation probably did something to minimise shaking to a noticeable extent probably. Anyway I'll stick to 600 rpm only.

I never used citric acid to clean though. Initially for few years, surf itself as suggested by technician for drum clean. Then vanish as per ur suggestion. Then recently I tried the surf excel descaler itself.

I'll have to see how much all these repairs will cost once they assess the situation.

Interestingly my neighbor's washing machine shakes like there's an earthquake and sounds like an aeroplane takes off. Somehow they don't really bother about it at all. Probably waiting for it to give up and buy a new one ig.

I am going to try the calibration methods today that were shown in the video you have posted.
