Car & Bike Ather scooters

They had early to market advantage and they treated scooters like Chinese smartphones. Their sales are centered around heavy discounts. Won’t sustain for long. Bajaj and TVS has ramped up network a lot and are going to take the market from Ola. Not to forget that Honda is coming with Activa EV next year.

ola would be taken over just for their factories and may be the tech stack not the vehicle

Better to write from scratch than use that buggy pile of shit software stack.
On my rizta test drive, i tried out the maps feature.
It was kind of buggy ,but even when it worked it was very slow ,like it took a couple seconds to respond after i pressed the buttons.
This would be more noticeable on touchscreen like 450.
They will always try to cut costs for an entry level vehicle , which is expected .

I think ather is the only one with google map support as of yet.
Never tried an ola ,so not sure about that.

Finally...

At one point ola boasted 50% market share. Looks like its been halved

clickbait headline, just like that Narayana Murthy rage bait one. Only those showrooms that did not have the trade certificate are sealed. They can continue to sell through that app and deliver scooter to home. Their sales numbers were back up in January/Feb. But with Bajaj and TVS gaining lot of foothold, Ola had to switch focus to electric bikes. Lets see how many bakras buy those bikes.

Wby does it say their market share plunged 60% then?
Because at their peak sales, there were only two performance scoters. Ather and Ola. Ather sales continues to go up and as people came to know issues with Ola, Ola sales fell a lot. Then they recently announced lot of discounts and all, sales went slightly up. I think they sold most EV scooters in January (slightly ahead of Bajaj).

And we are just two months later and their market share halved within such a short period?

Something major must have happened to this company.

You reason, oh only some showrooms are closed sounds so innocuous but it's not. Wasn't ola's advantage that they had stores everywhere? Others sell online because they have no choice.

as for 60% dip, doubt that. Unlike other brands, Ola does not announce sales figures. Media rely on RTO registration details to know Ola's sales. In February, Ola could not register their vehicles as they are re-negotiating with vaahan authorities. The official news is that their sales have not dipped. Let's wait and see. As all those registrations happen soon, it will look like Ola sales went from 22k in January to 8k in Feb to 50k+ in March.
