All OS Which team are you on - iOS or Android? And, why?

Android purely for endless customization and possibilities be it launchers, camera, apps, performance tweaking both gpu/cpu at core levels, yt vanced, crack apks and much more to describe and then there are custom roms, custom recoveries which come with their own set of cool tweaks and tricks!
Rooting, if you wish to dive deep and take 110% control of your device.
You can actually run your android the way you want rather than the reverse!

I find iphones very kiddish tbh, boring and same basic homesreen/launcher, typical icons and same walk through! Doesn't even feel you have put your money in a 1lac device. Cameras have also gone down and if it was purely for just the camera factor, then better to get a dslr investing that much money. So thumbs-down from my ends. Again, just my perceptive.

I used Androids from 2011 to 2021. Galaxy Y, S2, S3, S7, Galaxy J1Nokia 5.1 Plus, OnePlus 7.

Galaxy Y. Fine. Whatever. I would watch Pingu on YT at 240p. Good times.
Galaxy S2. Omg OLED. Wowsies.
Galaxy S3 was horrendous by the end. The WiFi died and I was paying ₹265 a month for 1GB of Airtel 3G. Bad times. i guess I shouldn't have tried to use a phone for 4 years at a time when year-on-year improvements were massive.
Galaxy S7. Love it. Still have it. Keep it around as my Android backup phone.
OnePlus 7. It was red in colour. Android 11 on it was a little buggy.

I switched to iOS in April 2021.

Got the M1 Air in Dec 2020 and influenced by my positive experience with it I decided to get the SE2020 in April 2021 (OnePlus 7, sadly became ill)
Do a lot more on the phone now. Calendar, Reminders, FaceTime, iCloud Shared Library, Find My, Shared Notes, iCloud Shared Folders, Universal Clipboard.
My phone's really become the sun around which my life revolves around.

However, iOS has presented its share of frustrations. The Photos app's single-folder structure is a major annoyance, and the sheer number of bugs I encountered was surprising. So many damn bugs. I posted about in an other thread a weeks back.

That being said. I got a second iPhone in Feb 2025 (a family member was upgrading gave me the 13 128 in red). Maybe as @Heisen pointed out maybe it's just my unit perhaps?

Turns out, the truth is somehwere in between. I do face a lot of bugs on my SE2020. But Apple forums, Reddit and the internet in general are full of people posting about various iOS bugs.

The 13 has been a lot better. A restart every couple of days, helps.

I have AirPods Pros as well, which switch seamlessly between my 3 devices.

I don't want to go back to Android and give up all these features.

Maybe I have developed stockholm syndrome ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I am on Android since the last 11 years but want to switch to iphone but price is deterring me.
I want to switch to iphone for my whole family of 5 in 1 instance.
Don’t do this. Get a used iPhone and try it out, the software is very different. If you use apps like revanced, custom launcher, etc you will hate iOS.

iOS is not for everyone, android pretty much is.

I am using iOS since 4+ years. Earlier the performance, the smoothness in UI, etc was unmatched.

Nowadays, even with 6GB RAM iPhone, I am facing abrupt app closures (atleast once in 2 days), limited multitasking (cannot continue scrolling once I leave the app), bad battery life, etc.

I see no reason for folks switching to iPhone when a mid range android is capable of doing mostly everything better (other than camera of course)

Was a android used till 2020 then shifter to iphone till 2023
From 12 pro max to 13 pro max
Then the worst decision was s23 ultra
It keps slowing down overtime battery backup got lower and lower in a span of 1.5 years with moderate use
Finally back to 16 pro max and i will stick to it
Too much useless features crammed in android

Plus iphone holds are better resale value so it becomes a bit easy to upgrade and apple switch from one phone to another is seamless and iphone runs smoother for a longer period of time

I like Android for it's flexibility, but I am more leaning towards owning an iPhone now, because of it's smooth and polished user experience. I had happened to use a Macbook recently and loved using it!

That's true, I have seen people sell their old iPhones when they upgrade and get good amount for it. I don't even think selling an Android phone gets you something, unless it's a Pixel or something major.

Please watch this budd.

The 12-year old article is not relevant. It is a relative matter between Apple and Google, and no one can deny that Google sells a lot more data to advertisers than Apple, as it is their primary source of income.

However, my point was mainly on the user experience and security updates, which you cannot really get on time on any Android phone apart from Pixel.

These kind of posts inevitably bring out fanboyism from either parties. I have more Android that Apple devices and was just sharing my perspective of using both over the past 15 years.

Here.. I rooted symbians phones and cooked my own roms!
With rajma ?
Here! Also, whatever Sony Ericsson used to run on. I think their custom OS that was based on Symbian?
No it was custom android but i also cooked the sheet out of my xperia play ( still have two of em ) and xperia mini pros.

Only android phone ivar ever liked since was lg v20 and rog phones due to gaming angle and sabre dacs rest all same slabs android or ios .

Although lineage was also good to me whenever I tried it.

iOS - because of a few reasons
  • Integration into the Apple ecosystem - Mac Mini, MacBook, Apple Watch (most important), iPad, Apple TV - The most important reason.
  • I just want my phone to work. I don't want to get into the nitty-gritty of customisation of launchers, custom icons (even though that's possible on iPhone now) and what have you.
  • I don't want to waste my time in giving permissions to Apps for things they have no business with. Why does a news app want to look through my messages or my phone? I don't get it.
  • Longetivity - but a phone today and you'll get updates for the next 5 years.
  • Privacy and App integrity
  • The layout is simple and it just works.
I also own a Pixel 7A and I get the appeal of the Android OS, but I just don't see it as my daily driver.

Oh, I meant the pre-2007 Sony Ericsson. We had the K750i. Loved that thing.

Android, because of,
  • Revanced
  • TC
  • Customizations etc. things that you only have for Android.
Never thought Revanced would be a legit reason to stick with Android :D

What's TC?
After wasting a decade tinkering with custom ROMs on budget phones, I was ready to give up on Android and switch to the dark side. At the last minute, I figured I’d give a flagship Samsung a shot before making that leap. And guess what? I’m really enjoying this dependable Android experience. That urge to switch to the dark side has vanished!
You could have done that with the Samsung fan editions also and got the same. The S20FE in my case has been great. It's been retired but no biggie.

Also find your reference to the dark side amusing because apple used to refer to IBM in that manner if you remember the sledgehammer ad.

Quite a few people here have switched to iPhone due to work I think. Otherwise this shift would not have happened

Google and Microsoft hating each other gave Apple an opening.
