Credit card payment failures over VPN

I have faced this issue numerous times when I try to make a payment online; it fails even after providing the correct OTP. A few Reddit threads suggested that it is inevitable due to CC companies' fraud prevention and detection systems, particularly where the payment request is generated from a different country than the registered address country of the card. I have been using the free version of Proton VPN, which does not let me change the connected server. If anyone else has faced a similar issue, would switching to an Indian server allow the payment to process?
To do that, it would require buying the subscription to the service, but if it could be confirmed whether this trick would work or not, it would save the subscription cost based on trial and error.

I'm really curious why you would want to do this but anyways just use Cloudflare WARP. It works like a VPN and your public IP will be replaced with that of a Cloudflare server within the same country.

Most VPN providers don't have their servers in India due to the law to store VPN connection logs and so on which destroys the purpose of a VPN. They purchase IPs allocated for India and then locate their servers outside India.
For me Apple Private Relay has worked well. It routes your traffic through Apple and then through CloudFlare servers. It maintains India location. It needs iCloud Plus subscription and Safari to work.

Probably to save a few rupees by subscribing to some service from another country rather than India.
I did think of this but OP mentioned wanting to try an Indian VPN server though.

If you keep changing VPN locations to try to bypass fraud detection, your card might get blocked until they do a manual review over phone call. Might as well stick to one VPN server and call the CC line to let them know you were the one attempting the transaction. If you retry after that, it should go through.

But imagine using Safari

Yeah, there's no such thing as an anonymous payment with a credit card if that's what he meant by obfuscated. But that would be a bit too stupid and I think he would know that already. Really curious what OP is trying to buy lol
Maybe they are seeing different region pricing in games like genshin when topping up. That saves some rupees
