Credit card payment failures over VPN

I have faced this issue numerous times when I try to make a payment online; it fails even after providing the correct OTP. A few Reddit threads suggested that it is inevitable due to CC companies' fraud prevention and detection systems, particularly where the payment request is generated from a different country than the registered address country of the card. I have been using the free version of Proton VPN, which does not let me change the connected server. If anyone else has faced a similar issue, would switching to an Indian server allow the payment to process?
To do that, it would require buying the subscription to the service, but if it could be confirmed whether this trick would work or not, it would save the subscription cost based on trial and error.

I'm really curious why you would want to do this but anyways just use Cloudflare WARP. It works like a VPN and your public IP will be replaced with that of a Cloudflare server within the same country.

Sometimes, it’s restricted based on the card issuer country.
Example: Ubiquiti UK / EU accepts all cards but US site only accepts US issued cards. You’ve no other choice but to get help from someone in the country. It depends on the website payment processor.

Other times it’s because of stricter RBI regulations. You can read all about this on Reddit. Basically, RBI has stricter payment regulations for cards / subscriptions. Some companies don’t want to update their payment processor just to stay compliant with India. There was a thread in TE also about not able to pay for Reddit ads. CloudFlare domains is not compliant yet. So in these cases your issuing bank does not allow the transaction. Any of the Indian cards won’t work. You’ve to get help from someone outside India.

In some cases you can try reseller’s site. Some softwares are distributed by the original company and resellers. You can try your luck with resellers.
