To all those smart kids trying this,
I have seen many people's HDFC, ICICI, Axis, SBI cards get cancelled with no warning whatsoever for repeated cancelling of EMI after purchase. All cashback/reward points lost.
One of my colleagues got the treatment on doing that for the first time.

Basing you offer on random discounts which can't be reproduced without consequences/privileges. examples include cancelling NCEMI, employee discounts, friends of CEO discount etc.

- A market price is the equilibrium where sellers and buyers meet and a sale happens. It's dictated by demand, supply, timing, opportunity cost etc.
- Sure you can aggressively offer whatever you want, in fact you 100% miss the shots you don't take, so be my guest.
- But doing so just because the seller is also doing the same is petty and immature.

Depends on my requirements, and if the sale price is the usual market price. If yes, then yes. If no, then no. Gotta assess the opportunity cost.

immoral I believe, the TE community is to help eachother out and reduce the unnecessary spend on new devices and reduce e-waste. if looking for profits I think this is wrong place to sell. Especially selling a used Device for more than the seller paid for I find unethical

Marketplace is for disposing of unwanted tech to like-minded individuals.
If you want to profiteer by reselling at a higher price, there's a reseller section or OLX.
Pricing awareness ("policing") helps other members establish what is a good deal or not, but it's most effective when done in this thread and not the original sale thread.

- It's a valid argument, and I somewhat agree. But it's not our place to "police" someone, or worse shame someone for trying to profit. A free market takes care of it in itself.
- +1 on the reseller tag and I do think that's the way to go.
Edit: Would also like to know what the folks think on a recent case where a TE member got a 5080 for 24k, and tried to resell it. Should we force him to sell it for less than the acquiring cost? If no, where do we draw the line?

I believe selling below for what the products usually sells for is enough for me. I don't care if you got it for 1rs or 10k, I missed the one time pricing, so now I can't compel you to sell it to me for that same price. You just need to be honest about it and maybe add a disclaimer in the sale thread about getting the item at a one off price.
Couldn't agree more. Two people can mutually benefit without either of them losing. Price policing only leads to unintended consequences like the seller forging his invoice. What baffles me is we didn't even ban the person, so in a way it was acceptable to the community, or to the mods at least.

I got banned for a week for posting a trump huuugge gif when a seller posted a price drop of like 50-100 rs on a fairly expensive item i was eyeing.
but forging a invoice = no ban somehow.

That's not I was trying to do. Genuises jumped in the thread and start policing me after I gave fair explanation.
I would totally not sell that 5080 for anything less than 80k. Reason : Both parties are at profit here and the market price decides the rates, not the invoice. If someone feels buyer is overpaying, they can just warn the buyer via DM route. If the seller is overcharging, don't pay. As simple as that. If I were the buyer, I would totally pay 80-90k for that 5080 and send 200 rs extra for a pint of beer to the seller. Kudos to him for sniping a deal like that. It involves both luck and skill.
if you think that using NCEMI/employee discounts (like Samsung corporate) is haggling in bad faith, then you are just naive.
yet in the the post, OP was selling their phone for 65K, while the same phone could be had for 58K, thats not petty or immature, thats being realistic.

exactly! for me TE is a place for enthusiasts, where I know if I am buying/selling to experienced FMs with good rep, I wont be scammed or have to jump through hoops after the sale, and if that means I wont make as much money as say on Facebook/OLX, thats perfectly fine for me.
