Did you try to repair it ? or Did you try to google what could be the issues ? Most the times its minor issues , that can be fixed , provided you identify the correct issue . Most the time , it will be small diode or Capacitor that needs to be changed .

Direct Access Storage , I need but it has very limited features compared to NAS . Terramaster D8 is example, but is does not even have LAN port . Only Thunderbolt port. For another 10 K , I can get NAS + Storage backup + media player all in one .

I also have same configuration , soldered 8 gb 3200 and 16 gb 3200 on E16 , it's runs fine. Not sure about double rate speeds. Is there any way to check if it's running on dual channel mode with optimal performance?

The only person who will be using NAS would be me . This NAS will be used to archive to store photos and videos. Will be ON only when when i want to consume it or write photos to it. So this way I can retire my desktop which is very old and makes huge noise in quite setup compared to new laptop...
