hey thnks for the help...zeroed in the problem...it was zone alarm

i just realised it was a zone alarm pro on the laptop ...i disabled it and it pinged from the desktop to the laptop.the normal zone alarm on the pc is not creating any problems

both have ZA...its pinging to the desktop from laptop but not the other way around...so the issue must be the laptop rite? are there any known compatibility issues with certain laptops...mine is a vaio

hey guys...this is how my setup looks like.i have a linksys wireless router WRT54G V5.the desktop is connected to the router via cable using ethernet card.whereas the laptop is connected to the router via wireless.router is setup as a dhcp server,so im able to access internet on both computers...

I installed limewire on FC4.But there's a problem.It doesn't connect to the network and shows an error(internet connection is either behind a firewall or there is no connection).I guess i have to set that port.Limewire uses 6346 as a listening port.How do I open it in linux so that I start using...

Thanks dude...it worked.Can you tell me what that iocharset means??? I ve mounted 2 parttions now...1 fat partition onto windowsfat32 folder and the other ntfs parttion onto windows folder.Can I mount another partition onto one of these folders or will I have to create another folder???

I'm having problems mounting my ntfs parttiion automatically when I log into linux.The fat partition s getting loaded automatically.(I edited the fstab file for that.)I can access fat partitons as a user as well as root.But ntfs partition has to be mounted each time I log in,but I can do that...
