Need help with AC recommendations, 1.5 ton 3 star

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my last statement. While you are right if the ambient temps are very high, it will affect the cooling. This summer showed how fragile the PCB's are under extreme heat stress. Many, both inv and non-inv, conked off when subjected to such temps, despite claims by the AC manufacturers that they can withstand 53,53C. While this summer was an one-off and will become more frequent in the future, no manufacturers was actually expecting the temps to actually go beyond 50C.
Unless they were all new ac ,maintenance plays a huge role most folk don't even clean their ac in years forget months or the manufacturer recommended 20 days ,i just cleaned my ac and the inverter load to cool room went from 68 percent to 42 percent, this is daikin which shows compressor load on the display

Offcourse, precautions from out end also plays a part. Sadly, very few read the manual nor do regular maintainance unless if it breaks.
People must be made to mandatorily read the manual so that they understand to do the basic cleaning within a time period.

If manufacturers claim 53C max ambient support then you bet they have tested it thoroughly otherwise they wouldn't claim it. Number one cause of PCB going poof is sudden power spike then liquid damage.

Agreed. The LG AC im using has such a small filter on the top of it that I thought my AC had some issue when in reality all I had to do was clean the filter. Remind you its a 2 month old AC. Older Hitachi AC I was using for the last 10 years had a open grill (open flap) which was needed to flip to access filter such had a big filter which worked for 6+ months before it needed maintenance. Not sure if this is intentional design or not but this is not friendly at all.

my daikin AC needs filter cleaning almost every month where as General AC hardly need cleaning, There is one thing I've noticed that Daikin split AC gives lot more water output compared to General Window AC even though its 2T
 
I was so frustrated with AC service that now I know how to weld copper pipes. Most of the issues in ACs (if the installation was proper) are due to long-term neglect. Clean up your filter every 15-20 days and clean up the outdoor unit every 60-90 days (if the fins gather a lot of dust and debris) and you won't have to bother much. If you could manage it clean the indoor unit every year (it's less prone to dust and debris due to filters). Experience has taught me that Japanese-made ACs (Panasonic in perticular) are the most reliable and will serve you for a long time. BlueStar is the only Indian brand good enough owing to their expertise in industrial cooling. I have been burnt by Volta, Godrej, Whirlpool, and Lloyd.

However these days, except a few Japanese brands almost everyone is using the same OEMs. And it all boils down to QC and service.

So i bought the carrier 1.5ton 5 star window inverter AC been almost a month. Cooling is very good, though i don't go above 27c and even do 28-29c sometimes and then also cooling is good. I don't like chill.
Carrier though bought by midea still working good. Have a midea split inverter AC also from last 5 years and never had a issue and cooling is top notch.
 
Any AC now a day's is good unless outer unit don't die on you :bawling:
I was also in same boat and had option of LG, SAMSUNG and Haier.
Bought Haier 1.5 ton (4 start I think or 5 star may be) and since last 2 to 3 years using it for 20 to 22 hrs daily. Not a lot of issue, leaving the dust accumulation on filters which I didn't cleaned has I never new we can do that causing water dripping from ac unit. but it was fixed by cleaning the filters and drainage pipe.

Check what is the best service provider in your area and buy that one.
 
I have a LG 1 Ton 5 Star window A/C from 2020, in the epic Delhi heatwave last month it gave up completely. Did not cool the room below 28-27 C. Do note the AC is in a 200 Sq.ft room. Can't blame it much to be honest. Now that the temperatures are somewhat decent it's doing a fine job.

Daikin is a mixed bag. The product is good. My current Daikin 1 Ton 5 Star Split from 2023 cooled a 120 sq ft room to 24 C even when the ambient temperature outside was 46-47 C. And the compressor was running around 65-70 percent!

The problem with Daikin is their after-sales. Atrocious service partners. In 2015 with my previous Daikin 1 Ton, they came for a service and pressure washed the ODU which ruined its fins. In 2016/2015 another serive partner broke the clips on the IDU's face plate.

Even after all this I went with Daikin again in May 2023 to replace the previous Daikin, ignoring the Croma dude's warnings not to get a Daikin as they nickel and dimed you. I gave Daikin a second chance. The installation went smooth and eveything was fine the first year. Very low electricity consumption, deathly silent, and most important of all- very very good at cooling the room.

In June 2024 I shifted my house and during re-installation they charged ₹200 per meter for re-installing my own copper pipe. Other HVAC companies- Hitachi, LG doesn't do this. I'm pretty sure the authorised service partner is breaking policy. During the re-installtion for convenience's sake they routed the copper piping from the right side and destroyed the IDU's plastic housing in the process- they cut both access holes on the right side and broke the corners, it looked disgusting. My 1 year old AC came out looking 10 years old after the re-installation. I did talk to them and got the housing replaced, but god are they a pain to deal with wherever you go- Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi. Daikin needs better people to be their service partners, as it seems like they authorise anyone who shows a modicum of HVAC knowledge.
 
I have carrier window 1.5ton 5 star inverter bought recently
1.5ton godrej 3 star inverter split also bought a month before carrier and already using godrej window 1ton and 1.5ton since 5+ yrs
and a midea 1.5ton 3star split inverter using since 5+ yrs.
All working top notch even during the heat waves this year.
Carrier and midea installation has been a breeze and even the working and service too.
Godrej installation is pain....they charge for even installing your own parts like pipes/stands.
Otherwise product works good.
