[PSA] Beware of blindly believing Flipkart Open Box Delivery msg on product page before payment

Here we go again, my second PSA thread regarding Flipkart in BBD sale just like last year. Friend ordered a graphics card from flipkart & as usual checked that product is open box delivery & proceeded to payment page & did the payment. Everything done successfully or so my friend thought until next day the order status update showed product is being delivered via "shadowfax" not the usual ekart. For those who don't know, shadowfax has a not so good reputation especially when involved with meesho scam/fake orders. Then the next shocker, the open box delivery msg which should have been there at the top of order status page is not showing meaning this delivery won't be open box delivery. Turned out open box delivery on products only apply if delivered by flipkart's own ekart logistics & not when delivered via other delivery partners like shadowfax even when the product is eligible for open box delivery.

This is a new low even for flipkart. I mean I could understand if certain product is not showing open box delivery for any user but to change the open box delivery because of change in shipping partner which can only happen after placing the order & making the payment is completely unethical. Be careful to keep checking your order status page & if not seeing the open box delivery msg then cancel the order.

P.S. request to mods @puns @Crazy_Eddy to temporarily sticky this thread in deals section here till the end of BBD/GIS sale for awareness.

Update: In a twist worthy of somewhat matching the end of Baahubali 1 where kattappa stabbed Baahubali, the shadowfax delivery was done just like open box delivery & flipkart delivered genuine product with a mfg date of Sep 2024.

Now another headache, already ordered zotac 3060 12GB from amazon in the deal & that is also arriving today. What should I do?

So was the card DOA or something else? If there's no open box option the product is eligible to be returned under certain conditions. That's always been the case

Happened same with me yesterday with tplink archer AX12 WIFI 6 router..

I ordered it at open box delivery but as soon as they shipped it with ECOM EXPRESS the open box delivery box went away and I didn't noticed it that time and when delivery came yesterday than I came to know that it has been changed in APP and delivery boy told no open box delivery showing to him..

Seller was " Retailnet" only..

no.. I think many products have 7 days service center return policy mainly

If a scam happened then it is your word against the flipkart & it entirely depends on them whether they accept or not. Also, if product is slightly physically damaged (superficial & not really anything serious) but working & you raise return request which fk denied saying product working correctly then also not good because service centre can always reject any future rma saying "physical damage" even if that has nothing to do with issue at that time. Most importantly, if flipkart send you a 1 year old card on which brand (zotac especially) deny giving warranty from purchase date but mfg date so you lose 1 year warranty for no fault of your own.

Did you at least get the otp option to confirm the delivery?

NO OTP OPTION

This has happened to me in 2023 , amd 6700 gpu.
The courier was ekaart in this case but obd wasnt available in my pincode yet

Oops. And I was giving preference to Flipkart over Amazon because of OBD even if Flipkart was a bit expensive of same product.

During BBD sale I ordered i5 13400f, and received a seal-packed box, when I opened the seal, it was counterfeit i5 3470, without any pins on the back of the chip, now struggling to get my refund.
If it was open box delivery then how did you miss seeing the processor top cover in the side transparent box in the processor box or you mean to say it was not open box delivery or the processor top cover itself was replaced with a i5 13400f cover but underneath it there was i5 3470.
Any chance you can do a credit card chargeback?
Banks/credit card companies in India don't really favour the customer much in such cases & typical response is to wash their hands off the matter & telling the customer & seller/ecomm platform to sort it out amongst themselves.

Sir it's been long time I have bought a CPU, so forgot to ask my wife to check, as she received the product. The delivery guy came during office hours. I asked my wife to check box and seal, it was intact. When I came home, the processor was kept in opposite direction.

this will be an issue.
the chance of your issue getting resolved are slim.
do you have a unboxing video?

In that case I would approached National consumer helpline first then consumer court/E dakhila.

Ok

So it was tampered with inspite of seals being intact? They went through all this trouble only to misplace the processor in the opposite direction

After waiting, I finally bought 12400f from Amazon and when it reached home I was surprised at striking resemblance of fake seal on 13500f and original seal on 12400f.

Out of curiosity, why even buy core PC parts from Amazon/FK? In India, unlike the US, Amazon prices usually suck for core PC components. Why not stick to safer channels such as Prime/MD/Vedant etc.?

Unless Amazon/FK had some unbeatable offer during the ongoing sale.

Im guessing they are printing fake stickers to reseal the package

No, they are smart. Instead of changing the engraving on the IHS, (which would be costly), they flipped the processor around to hide the actual model so you wouldn't immediately know it's a fake.

Exactly! The convenience of ordering everything from home is making people take unnecessary risk. Offline shops + their websites almost always have lower prices than Az/FK.
