Intel's upcoming Core Ultra 9 285K is reportedly (slightly) slower than the i9 14900K in gaming

If I wet the bed, does that make me cute?

If this is the case (which it seems to be), efficiency gains seem to be the highlight.

Intel Core Ultra 200S Arrow Lake-S desktop processors announced: Lion Cove, Skymont, Xe-LPG, NPU and LGA-1851

But, its power draw was less - 70W or 80W, from what I read. But we will have to wait for the real world benchmarks.

The upcoming X3D models are on the horizon. I'm confident that the overclocked Ultras will outperform the 14th Gen and possibly the 9xxx RYZEN, but the new X3D models will take the top spot."

I don't think I would be investing in Intel's product lines unless I see some major changes to their price and warranty terms. I and my friends have gone through considerable gestures about it and with the no recall or solution to their 13th & 14th gen lineup was the final nail to the figurative coffin. The worst crime of all is the e-waste they generate by having to change socket size every couple of generations

not going to happen, Intel is full of uncles and aunties, who lost never upgraded their skills after COBOL and running the company.
They even get huge support from US govt, but these furniture's roots are so deep they earning in million but jinxed everything else.
Now they just want someone to buy them, so these guys can take their retirement money and enjoy.

Even if the qualcomm deal materialized, i guess the focus will be more on ARM side.

NVIDIA is going to have the monopoly in hardware, in less than 5yrs form now. as AMD is not even thinking to stay in the race. after nvidia captured almost 90% market.

Hoping to see new details about their media engine.
Improvement on hevc 4:2:2 10 bit hardware acceleration, added acceleration and av1 decode and encode would be awesome.

Wo to sab theek hai, but the Motherboard are very pricy for the next gen, be it AMD or Intel. My Strix Z790 was for 32k, now its for 53k. WTF.
This, my X570S Aorus Master came with full backplate, ESS Sabre DAC, 2.5G LAN and cost 35K, the newer version doesn't even have backplate and a lot of downgrade across the board while costing upward of 50K. Even the X670E was very bad tbh.

So true Brother, the prices have been increasing steeply, especially AMD is doing what Intel did for decades.

thats what AMD fanboys dont get, both are in it to fleece as much money as they can. My only beef with AMD is how these incompetent morons still havent managed a decent upscaling solution against DLSS, despite ****ing Intel of all players, entering the GPU market for the first time, and XeSS outright beating FSR by miles.

At this point, call me a conspiracy nut or whatever, I wont be surprised if there's a deal between Huang and Su, where AMD wont try to duplicate their AI Upscaling solution and Nvidia wont bother competing in mid-low price segment market.

Intel screwed themselves, thinking that they are the king in HEDT and Enterprise. Look that complacent nature, got them to what they are today. AMD, I think, never were interested in the GPU market, they didn't pushed hard enough and Nvidia has been enjoying no competition at all for over a decade now.

oh they definitely are interested in the GPU market, they have been trying really hard to compete with CUDA and capture the Linux market, but its with the release of RTX and Nvidia going all in with AI, that Nvidia have really puller ahead.

And still, just how hard it is to poach some engineers from Nvidia and get a fledgling AI division going? that's what Intel did with XeSS

With Nvidia skimping out on VRAM, you pretty much have to use DLSS to crank up settings without losing fps.

Unless you need Nvidia exclusive features like CUDA or something, it's always better to go red and get more VRAM/$ + raw raster performance/$. Don't be a fanboy for any brand, just look at the numbers.

yeah, Nvidia is definitely gimped by lack of VRAM, and AMD tops out dollar value because of this, but DLSS is not just an upscaling solution, and RT is transformative in many games. Heck, There are some games which would look like trash because TAA but were massively improved by DLSS (since it uses its own AA) *cough* RDR2 *cough*, and RT is RT, just look at Cyberpunk without RT, and I'm not even talking about Path Tracing, which again is transformative against traditional RT, or you can look into games like Metro, or even better Dying Light 2.

I prefer visuals over FPS as long as FPS is decent enough (anything above 40s), and I would rather buy a 4070ti than a 7900XTX because of DLSS itself (I game at 1440p, so 12gb vram is more than fine for me), and superior RT, but thats just me. In short, people way underestimate just how good DLSS is and how trash FSR is compared to it
