News Apple Announces Redesigned Mac Mini With M4 and M4 Pro Chips

@roadrash99 hope not on the last statement. need competition always.
They just won't be able to compete, better products -> more money -> even better products. Already Intel and AMD are several generations behind Apple and that is not even Apple's main expertise. They are reaping the rewards for focusing on the end product and no other company did that. As for competition, for the last 10 years at least Apple products have no competition. They have carved out a segment of the market for themselves and Apple users do not (and cannot) consider competing products. Their market share will always grow and cannot go down. Among GenZ people in the US they have 95% market share, and all the older people will die very soon.

Used M1/M2 prices will now plummet.

The last time there was this big of a jump in performance in the mini was with the Core Solo/Duo models that came after the G4 ones.

To match the single threaded performance of the M4, you'd need a 13th or 14th gen i7 on the Intel side or a 9600X. You might even be able to build a full system at the same price point, probably for the first time ever.

It's incredibly enticing: the price, form factor, performance, connectivity.

Absolutely fantastic.

Should be great for even 6k editing.
I wonder if it will do 8k well too.

Btw the reason I am asking for 8k editing is by next year most action camera will have 8k . It already has started happening.

So do you guys think 8k editing will be possible on Mac mini m4 16gb?.

I really doubt if there will be lot of sales for the Mini as people are moving farther away from desktops for normal use. Would be amazing 'parent PC' though. Takes very little space, just works for years and years. There are many elders in my community who just need a very good PC for trading and this one has to be the best one to suggest. Anyone with serious work would anyways go for MBP that can deliver similar performance with same chip.

I have the first Core 2 Duo model and it still works (though it has become a lot slower and is not getting updates anymore).
