[PSA] Beware of blindly believing Flipkart Open Box Delivery msg on product page before payment

WTF.. I just read the entire thread. This is harrowing. Amazon AND Flipkart increasingly turning into scammer websites.
Even Amazon's "Eligible for Free Open Box Inspection" appears to be a tactic to protect itself and not ensure the customer gets proper product. At the bottom of this feature Amazon writes: "We cannot accept returns for damage once the OTP is submitted."
This means once you give OTP... Amazon is FREE. No Liability, No Responsibility, No Returns EVEN IF the product is non-functional.
Imagine, you buy a TV,... You will wait for the Assembly Team to unbox the TV. But in this case, you will have to unbox the TV and check it is functioning.
Amazon is currently PROMISING/OFFERING "Instant installation on delivery". However, what about other products? You MUST check EVERYTHING is working correctly before handing over the OTP.
Indian buyers MUST check local sellers and shops and buy online ONLY IF there's no other option. It is better to pay a little more and buy local than Gamble and Bet with cheaper online products.

EDIT 1:
Already found Problematic listing on Amazon for a TV:
The listing mentions: "Eligible for Free Open Box Inspection". However, there's no "Instant installation on delivery".
What this means is that buyers will have to unbox and inspect the TV before handing over OTP.

EDIT 2:
Flipkart mentions: "Returns for missing items, damaged product, or wrong product will not be accepted if it is an Open Box Delivery order." Once again, once you give OTP... Flipkart is FREE. No Liability, No Responsibility, No Returns EVEN IF the product is non-functional.
It appears all these websites want is to sell.. No Customer Service and ZERO Responsibility.

This thread is more scary than occurs in IRL. Forewarned is forearmed and all but no need to panic.

I bought an S23 from FK under this open box scheme and it went smoothly. I would not release the otp until I was satisfied. It helps if the delivery guy is courteous and not hassling because he has other deliveries. If latter is the case you just ignore it.

Well, that's the point of open box isn't it. That you check first and once satisfied go ahead?

This was how I bought my first Tab over a decade ago. I told them open the box, let me play and if screen is good i will take it. Same deal with phones. I always bought open box from the store. These guys knew i was interested because I'd keep coming back and look at the product and months later ready to pull the trigger.

They agreed and I kept to my end. At the samsung shop they refused such an arrangement and said if there is an issue you deal with service center and not us. They also refused to give me the discount I got in the other shop. Which seller would you prefer in this instance?

So it's as if you bought from an offline store isn't it. Without going to the store and delivery at your doorstep.

Same thing as explained above.

Screen shot where it says 'eligible for free open box inspection' because I can't find it.

Yes, what more can be done. You checked and said all was good. Keep in mind you still have a manufacturer warranty that covers you upto a year should the product fail unexpectedly due to manufacturing defect.

It's right below Add TV installation box.

I think the scammers here in India forced them into making these policies. I know not everyone is a scammer, but there are people without any conscience who take things too far and then make the place bad for everyone. When they (Amzn + FK) start losing money to fraudsters, then we see such policies come into effect. Even Myntra has started putting some "Don't remove if you want to return" sticker on clothes after seeing people use their expensive clothes one time for some function and return it. I haven't seen that sticker but saw it mentioned on Reddit on a similar topic on that site.

Item shows 'currently unvailable' for me.

Even 65 is not available for me. So this is a regional offer. I was curious because never heard amazon offering such a service before.
I've been seeing it from the past year on large appliances like fridges, wm, & tvs. Lot of complaints about receiving damaged products made them offer that service i think.
