Apple Event - iPhone 16

One thing which you can try and see if it works is to avoid the bulk upload, it prolly sucks. Do it in smaller chunks and see if that helps move things faster. I'm assuming your library is present locally so just split into 4 parts and see if that completes.

Apple's latest "Intelligence" plastered across every major Indian newspaper, but—surprise, surprise—not a single mention of when it's actually launching in India!
And there’s the Indian "public," eagerly lining up at the stores, showing off their own brand of "intelligence" and "loyalty" :joycat::joycat::joycat:

How much iCloud storage did you need? isn't it expensive?

The whole 22k items (1.2k videos, rest pictures) were 350 gigs in total so I have the 2 TB iCloud+ plan.

Having enough backups is never expensive, haha.

+ I can utilise both apple's and immich's ML models
+ backing up to immich is super fast (over lan using split dns, no internet required whatsoever. even dns is self-hosted using pi-hole.)
+ then icloud photos serves as convenience + 2nd/3rd backup
+ if immich is down for some reason, all my pictures are available on icloud photos. if icloud photos is down, immich it is. if both are down, all my photos also live on my external ssd as a photo library.

The thing that pisses me off is that apple has still kept free iCloud at 5GB only and it is per account. If it was per device it would have been good too. So if I have 5 apple devices connected to same apple id, I should get 5x5=25 gb storage.

You will not buy the higher storage phones than, that's where Apple makes the big bucks.

Online storage is addictive, companies know that, once you are invested enough you have to pay in one form or another. According to Apple 5GB is enough to hook people in.
