I want to buy a 1TB SSD for creating a backup of files. I have a 2.5 SATA drive enlosure laying around which I can use to create a portable 1TB SSD or should I buy an nvme/m.2 and extend my laptop's current storage?
Also suggest 1TB SSDs for creating backups, no gaming or other intensive tasks.

Since it's an external buy a Sata if you have plans for increasing laptop later then nvme now itself would be better.

But here is the kicker if you are looking at backup then it needs to be outside your primary device so whether nvme or sata making it external and using a file sync software for back up is the way to go

If nvme then check out orico and their or pi cases it it's sata then crucial should be good enough

buying a 1tb nvme m.2 would make a lot more sense than buying a sata 1tb ssd because that wont be a meaningful price difference.

Please suggest a good 1tb ssd to be used to storing a lot of data. I want to reset my pc so I'd have to move all the files (≈250gb) then transfer them back. Then I'll be using the drive to store files which will be to the tune of 500gb or something. I was thinking to buy a WD Blue 3D NAND 1tb (6500rs) SATA SSD so that I can put the unused SATA enclosure to the use and actually have a portable backup drive. Although I will not mind an nvme if the price is right.
