Storage Solutions NAS For My Home

Nah, MySQL is used to sync Kodi across multiple devices. PostgreSQL was mainly for learning purposes. Now I just use it to store some data which is scraped from the web using Python scripts.

Storage Solutions NAS For My Home

Transmission, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Sonarr, Syncthing, 2 self-created Django/Python applications in Docker, and finally Homer to create an easy access home page with links to all these. A couple of other containers usually run when I'm trying something out. I have upgraded the RAM to 6 GB, 2 GB...

71-90K PC build help- Budget 70-80K without GPU

You said your budget was 80k, I posted what according to me is the best possible config for 80k. If you've already made up your mind, then it's fine. 7600 is an excellent product. 7800x3D is just a more future proof product.

Storage Solutions NAS For My Home

Same. I have a 4 TB and a 12 TB drive. I have to use it as regular storage, no RAID. Will remedy the situation when I move to a 4-bay NAS, but will have to wait for it to get cheaper. No way I'm paying 50k for something which can be done with a ₹10k used PC or NUC.

For your usecase, DS 423+ The main difference between these two models is that 923+ supports expansion unit. But you're unlikely to need that and even if you do, they are so expensive, you might as well just buy another NAS device.' Look at this, this is the kind of expansion unit you can...

Understanding 120 Hz marking on televisions

Hi. My current TV has started limping towards its graveyard and I'm expecting to have to buy a new TV soon. Since I use my TV a lot for gaming (both PC and PS5), I was thinking of getting a 120 Hz TV. However, having seen their tricks since over a decade, I'm very skeptical about 50" 120 Hz TVs...

Storage Solutions NAS For My Home

I did not know this, this is stupid. So I can only backup as much as the storage I have on my PC? What's even the point of it then.

Backblaze is much cheaper for backup and will actually work out much cheaper than a NAS if the purpose is only backup and not to run other services like Plex/Pi-hole off the NAS.

All synology devices support RAID. For your use case, even synology 423 or 423+ will be fine. 923+ supports expansion bay to add more drives later, which 423+ doesn't. Otherwise not much of a difference for a regular user using it for backup purposes. For hard drive capacity, I would recommend...

Market Section - Product Pricing n Discussions [NO Price checks]

Everyone on this forum is both a buyer and a seller. I have sold more stuff here than I've bought and I started a thread saying "shipping on buyer's risk shouldn't be allowed". If you think of yourself as only a seller, then you see this forum as a marketplace first and forum second. If you...

Storage Solutions NAS For My Home

You can either go for 2x12TB or 4x8TB depending on what you can find in your budget. Failure is not a matter of quick or delayed. Failure is a matter of time. If it doesn't fail in 1 year (quickly) and it fails in 7 years (in a long time), you still lose all your photos if you don't have a...

51-70k Lightweight workhorse that goes on and on

There's nothing wrong with the suggestions. Only 2 people have suggested Macbook, me and one more person. I have already mentioned "if battery life is important" for Mac. I have also made other suggestions for other cases and also given caveats to OP's requirements. The other suggestion, while...

51-70k Lightweight workhorse that goes on and on

While I do absolutely hate this about Apple, in OP's case, it doesn't seem to be a major factor. 256 GB should be OK for their usage. Unless they want to run VMs and docker containers. Thinkpads, as suggested by @frozenscotch , are also a good option

FS: Others Couple of days old APC UPS 1100VA, with bill box and warranty

Are you the same guy who asked about this a couple of days ago on Reddit, where the PC has an RTX3080 UPS starts beeping when playing games on high settings? In any case, you need to have handwritten username and date as a part of the picture as per rules. Check other sale threads for how it's...

Laptops Update HDD to SSD in HP Envy laptop

One additional suggestion, SSD prices have gone up in recent times. So if you want to get a 250 GB SSD while retaining your HDD, you can remove the DVD drive if your laptop has one. You can get a caddy to fit the SSD in its place.

51-70k Lightweight workhorse that goes on and on

If battery life is an important consideration, and you're ok with Mac OS, you can check if you can get a Macbook M1 Air in your budget. It easily lasts the entire day on a single charge. If not, you can consider Ryzen 7330u or 7530u based laptops. They are basically refreshed model of the 5300u...
