You can always use Dual boot. I admit that for a lot of things, Windows is better. At the same time, Ubuntu has an edge in a lot of areas as well. There is a reason that MS themselves ship WSL.

Steam has official support for Ubuntu. Considering Kubuntu is basically Ubuntu under the hood, Steam should work.
