PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

Huzzah, it works! Did an open board setup. Now have to put everything together into the cabinet again and deal with cable management :weary:

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

I got a replacement mobo from kaizen today. I want to test it out but forgot about CPU thermal paste. Is it ok to run for a bit without it - or with the residue that I'm yet to clean? Ordering some now but 2 days delivery.

wat? You mean GPU was not running since CPU fan was too tight? :frowning:

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

Well, mobo submitted for RMA today. Staff at kaizen seemed polite. Then I met another guy who was there with is MSI board, who said he's been coming again and again for 5 months after they keep 'repairing' his board :/

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

When I was out today for some other work, I took my RAM with me. A shop tested it out for me - they said both sticks were okay. I guess it's the mobo and I have to take it to Kaizen Infoservice for RMA. I suppose I should take just the mobo - with CPU and all removed?

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

The PSU seems fine as I powered my old rig with my new PSU. Old rig's intex PSU didn't have extra connectors to power GPU, so used new PSU to power whole old rig.

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

I actually have had a bootable USB in since the start. My plan was to have a fresh installation. I later removed the USB while debugging. But have not tried only USB with SSD disconnected.

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

omfg. I pulled out and dusted an ancient desktop rig stored at parents' house. It had a PCIE slot that accepts my GPU (I think mobo was replaced at some point). And the GPU fan spins! I see output from the ancient rig on the monitor! So... considering GPU wasn't spinning on either of the...

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

Uff. The few people I know in this place all have laptops only so having trouble getting alternate components. I tried calling some 'repair shops' - didn't inspire confidence - maybe since I'm at the end of Noida. those guys don't seem to have alternate GPUs or even mobos to test my GPU; yet...

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

I guess now is also the time I should ask for recommendations for a good shop to get help at? (Noida, NCR region).

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

Nothing seen on monitors with and of course without GPU. I guess I would need some speaker to see if there are any POST codes being emitted, since the mobo doesn't have speakers. I have seen the GPU fans run on power up on all previous occasions. It prolly turns of during runtime as needed...

PC not booting up, some debug LEDs lighting up on mobo

I'm having trouble diagnosing the problem with my PC not booting up properly. Here is my machine: - AMD Ryzen 9 3900X - MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk Wifi ATX motherboard - 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ UDIMM C16 Desktop RAM - SAPPHIRE Pulse Radeon RX 580 8G GDDR5 - Samsung 970 EVO Plus...

    The Food Thread

Is it me getting older or are the Oreo biscuits we get here getting muuuuch sweeter than before? On occasion I get a pack and eating them is like a syringe injection of sugar and it's almost exhausting to finish a pack.

Budget 90k+ Need a build for heavy multitasking that can drive up to four 4k monitors for work only

Guys, is the Radeaon RX 580 sufficient to drive a worst case of 4 4k monitors, considering there's no gaming involved? It seems to have 5 display outs - with 2xDP + 2xHDMI. I'm beginning to wonder why a 38k-45k gfx card is needed for this setup, if a good 18k one can do the job *without...

Budget 90k+ Need a build for heavy multitasking that can drive up to four 4k monitors for work only

I picked the BenQ primarily for the IPS panel and the feedback on the excellent viewing angles. I was primarily looking at the LG you mentioned, but saw discussion about how the contrast shifted depending on the viewing angle - especially considering there is so much screen real estate to...

Budget 90k+ Need a build for heavy multitasking that can drive up to four 4k monitors for work only

I knowwww :( I'm a bit torn. I do really need to get something now for some critical work. Whoa! I didn't realize. Damn, I should hold off a week or so then... sigh. I was gonna order the monitors first now, but now have to wonder. Thanks for this info. I think most of the time, I should be...

Budget 90k+ Need a build for heavy multitasking that can drive up to four 4k monitors for work only

Thanks! Appreciate the insights. That's a good line of thought. I had basically settled on a 3900X and then forget about it for 5 years (which I think is still kinda okay), but I'll think about your suggestion. The steel legend is without wifi right, at that price? Gonna check out the Asus...

Budget 90k+ Need a build for heavy multitasking that can drive up to four 4k monitors for work only

Thanks. I actually did settle on a 5700XT in the end. Just looking for decent options locally. Shortlisted Gigabyte, MSI Mech OC, PowerColor Red Devil and Sapphire Pulse - getting quotes for these. The one you listed is only on Newegg, right? That would involve chunky customs?

Thanks, but as I said above, I'm not looking to do ML stuff.
