u need to go to the device manager >> monitors >> properties >> Details >> select Hardware IDs and u will have the hardware id of ur screen... mine was an XR878 whc is a samsung... now it shows NU*** something...forgot... its an LG the difference is clearly visible..

I received the xps wth a samsung screen....called up dell nd informed them about the grains....they replaced it wth a LG screen the next day..... now it all looks just so kool....gr8 screen.... they are providing win vista discs....(atleast thats wat i got..)

i tried doing so in my xps m1530.....dint work.... dont know why ??

I dont think that will be possible since the recovery disks are laptop manufacturer specific..which i guess are copy protected (correct me if i am wrong)....so even slipstreaming it would be difficult.... since they are proprietary items so they only have the right to upadate the software i...
