Cooler Master MM712 is such a cute little mouse which fits me very nicely , but its bugged with the famous scroll wheel bug where after sometime the scroll wheel input is correct , for eg - for one wheel down , it will do two up and one down.. something like that .
Need advice in finding similar such mouse for daily drive.
You could try your luck again by getting another pair of MM712. Not every unit is affected by the scroll bug. If that sounds like too much hassle, you could get a Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro. It retails for ~6k but it’s a tad bit bigger than the MM712 and isn’t cute at all!
That’s great news. Because, nothing ever comes close to MM712 in that price bracket. The value for money is just insane. Hopefully, the unit is bug free this time. Good luck!
from googling, it seems it uses a 11 mm scroll wheel encoder. You could get a bunch of them off aliexpress/ebay etc, and have a local shop replace them (or replace them yourself if you know your way around a soldering iron)
EDIT: It’s there in india
googled info may not be reliable - check the encoder in your mouse before ordering!
gaming mice tend to have very aggressive debouncing to get their fast response times
this makes them very sensitive to the condition and the quality of the signal generated by the switches/encoders
as they age, and gather dust, the signal gets worse, and triggers more false signals
the same issue is what causes double clicks on the mouse buttons for some other gaming mice
I ordered a 11mm encoder from EscKeys. The shipping was awful but got it after some back and forth with the seller. The mouse is relatively easy to open up. However, taking off the skates voids the warranty instantly. I was new to soldering at the time and it took considerable efforts and a purchase of a better soldering gun for me to finish the task. I ordered replacement skates for the mouse and viola - it felt like a new mouse. The scroll encoder that Cooler Master uses is absolutely trash. It is worth getting a better one and upgrading it yourself.
I use the MX Master 3s, Razer Orochi V2 and the MM712. I loved how light the MM712 is for gaming and did not want to discard it.
