Hey guys I want a 3.5mm audio switch. Plug in 2/3 3.5mm audio input to 1 3.5mm output. Want a physical button/remote to change inputs. Sound will be 1 input only, no mix.
This is what you are looking for, but remember there might be a ground loop/ noise issues. To fix that you have to buy ground loop isolator , at least one.
Basically we are switching analog signal. So it is very likely you will get some hum or noise.
A solution is to convert all your analog inputs to digital then convert it back to analog on the output signal. This will remove all the ground loop/hum issues.
You can DIY this using a single board computer like RPI, and multiple USB sound cards for input and one high quality USB sound card for output. But this will be a lot of work and coding.
@Heisen Thats exactly what I want but 4k makes no sense.
Leaving hum aside for now. It can work with the switch in my OP and 4 rca to 3.5mm convertors. This is 300+200+200+200+200=1100 from amazon. If all this was in 3.5 mm form, it would be small size and presumably cheaper. I am amazed the chinese have not built this already.
Some DIY options but I don’t want to go this route if I don’t have to.
I have bought a driver board for a spare 11.6 inch laptop screen. Will arrive in 5 to 10 days. The board has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 usb and no audio out (I could be wrong and would solve the problem). The 2 inputs will be a mi box 4k and a broken screen laptop (both have 3.5mm audio out). Will connect usb powered speaker to the usb port of the board, if power works with screen on/off. Switchable audio input remains.
The speaker is either powered from laptop, mi box, driver board or 1.5a power adaptor.
