Home power backup confusion

So I live in an apartment society which provides DG power backup, upto 1000-1300 VA, more than sufficient for my use case. However there are few issues Switchover time ~30s (mostly in 10-20s) DISCOM level issues (low voltage, loss of phase, voltage variations etc) will require manual intervention by the in-house electrician, meaning extended outages.
