i would avoid it, again.

unfortunately I doubt they will get a market or a good pricing considering our import charges

better to get via family/friend from US

Too much bureaucratic bullshit to get through for not enough returns considering how many people will be able to afford them.

Love what they’re doing though.

guys i am planning to get one when i enter uni under 1.5 laks whats my options preferably get ram and ssd here as its cheaper

Well, they can make in India.

Ofcourse, once they get 700 different files and folders approved from 7000 different desks and set up manufacturing. They can surely do that.

I’m laughing but its true. Setting up manufacturing in India is harder compared to other countries. It’s counter intuitive that govt. says companies should set up manufacturing in India yet makes the steps as hard as possible.

Manufactured products that the Indian consumer get also don’t bear the same quality as their western or eastern counterparts / exports under the same brand. Suzuki cars, Pilot stationery, Levi’s jeans, Asics shoes, the brand is the same but the quality is not. I doubt electronics will be any different.

With the added cost of regulations vs the cost of customs from China, who is much ahead in terms of QC, it just makes no sense. I wish they don’t come to manufacture in India, only set up logsitics to ship here domestically.

India is already doing contract manufacturing as per order for companies, don’t need to build his own factory for this.

It is kinda easy, you just have to shell out a bit of pocket change to fast track approvals and even skip approvals

Honestly would not bother with framework unless they are going to sell here

Even then the high import/customs duty will kill the idea at the beginning itself not to mention contract mfg of such products is not even present in India.

Indian manufacturing and availability aside, this is priced exorbitantly for a 100W part, not to say that you wouldn’t find a resale market when upgrading.

Doesn’t seem like a VFM or environment friendly option (compared to selling old laptops for reuse).

Framework laptops, although they look great on paper, are hella expensive. It’s actually cheaper to buy a new laptop from standard laptop makers every time you feel like upgrading.

Wish someone gets the idea to make a laptop with 2 screens . Just like the phones that fold and unfold to have a bigger viewing area .

Govt. is giving incentives to such manufacturers I think. There are other major laptop manufacturers already in market, probably Nirav Patel on the board will let Framework take that opportunity.

38 Companies Apply To Manufacture Laptops In India: Union Minister
IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Apple has not applied under the PLI framework, but the company is already manufacturing components.: https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/32-firms-apply-to-make-laptops-in-india-union-minister-4343644

Maybe manufacturing in India will help him reduce the prices.

Aren’t there such laptops already in market, for eg., Asus Zenbook Duo, Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1, few generic brands too.

No . Not 1 screen on top of the other . 2 screens next to each other . Like the 34 inch wide screen monitors . Another defect with the 2 monitors on top of each other is that if you want to watch a movie you cannot do it on 2 screen simultaneously. It wouldn’t be that wide . Same with excel .

We do get after market accessories for that specific purpose.
