I have these Amazon basics arm and i need to increase the height of my monitor by atleast 8 inches, the wood block thing would only allow a extension of 2-3 more inches, can’t mount on wall as this is a standing desk
if possible get a rod of same diameter welded and make sure to sand down the welding joints.

try fliping the monitor 180 degress. It gave me ~ 1 inch extra

If you’re open to drill some holes in the desk, why not create a small box and use that to mount the stand?
