My question is same as the thread’s title. Anyway to buy stuff from Chinese websites directly?
Yes it’s possible with a freight forwarder like delivo or fashionsoles
Can you please explain a bit more about this?
freight forwarder acts as an intermediary and manage the delivery from their warehouse to your doorstep including clearing customs for a fixed price
aliexpress directly cant ship. you have to order from it to a local warehouse and then from there to india. this increases prices a bit. customs apart
EDIT: didn’t know they included customs
Ok, but how the actual order is placed? Is it placed on AliExpress or with the Freight forwarder?
Who handles the payment?
Does the freight forwarder provides assurances against DOA or defective product?
Basically you choose the product you want to buy from AliExpress and use the freight forwarder’s address and contact details when placing your order. You pay for the item yourself on AliExpress and then the AliExpress seller ships it to the freight forwarder’s warehouse instead of directly to you.
Once the freight forwarder receives the package at their warehouse they contact you and send pictures to show that it has arrived. After that, you pay them their fixed fee(usually based on weight) for shipping the item to your doorstep which includes handling customs and delivery(some items are restricted like lithium batteries,phones..contact them for more info or read T&C). If you want to protect your package against damage or loss, you can pay extra for insurance.
Also, you can also hire an agent to go to a physical shop and buy something for you in person for additional fee
Thank You for the detailed response. If you know or have dealt with any then can you list some reliable Freight Forwarders that deal in this domain?
I think @iatedik can help you with that, not sure if they are importing directly or using a freight forwarder themselves.
I know and trust:
- Delivo
- FashionSoles
- Self ship by Desertcart
I’ve Heard of but not sure to trust:
Clearport
yeah he can, he orders in bulk i suppose.
Gents (assuming), What would be the fastest most reliable way to this amongst all the possible options?
Which of these is best for electronic items? Planning to order 5g hotspot device
Fashionsoles is mostly for shoes, clothes and watches. Desertcart is always overpriced.
Delivo has been fine for quite sometime as there are no additional charges over what they state but they require over 1kg weight, so you will have to aggregate using something like Superbuy before shipping. If you buy lightweight or prohibited items, it is considered as lost, so you will lose your money.
Actually I think it would be in the interest of the community if someone can aggregate and ship using Delivo.
I have to order a puny m.2 to PCIe x16 adapter. Will explore other options then
I think Fashionsoles allows to import electronics and other equipment too, just pricing varies (eg. base price + xyz)
If someone here has used both of them would love to know which one they prefer
I won’t recommend fashionsoles at all, look up the BS their admin did on TIAC discord. I would love to tag the affected person here but they want to wash their hands off this matter and preserve their privacy.
Delivo, discord servers I know of regularly import stuff worth lacs every year without issues
from? why not try amazon us and such? delivery fees wont be that high and you wont be hit with customs mostly assuming its a cheap product
Doesn’t Delivo only allow packages over 1kg though?
