Hi, I am looking for advice on setting up CCTV system for my cousin’s house. I have absolutely no knowledge about that.

Which components should I opt for?

Which ones offer better features and better picture quality?

My cousin and I are also uncertain about how to set a budget. We received a quote from a local installer who inspected the house and provided the following estimate. I’ve watched a few videos, but I’m still not sure what to pick. He lacks technical knowledge in this area, so he sought my advice. Since I haven’t seen any actual CCTV footage myself, it wouldn’t be fair to give recommendations just by watching YouTube videos.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Dahua NVR.. POE switch provides network connection and power to IP cameras and NVR basically manages the cameras and shows them all in one place and records streams. 3rd party softwares are used to remotely access those cameras like DMSS. You need rj45 crimper and networking skills to setup cables. Drilling skills also required to neatly install cables and cameras on walls. In the end, cctv installation is labour intensive and done best by professionals. 25-30k is an honest price for 8 channel nvr with 1 tb chinese drive storage :stuck_out_tongue: (you will have to upgrade that.) Trust me you dont want your parents to scream at you for walls filled with drill holes
